"Transparency and looking out for the (union) working man"
Hat tip Daily Caller and Hot Air
Tim Geithner Valerie Jarrett
For all you folks out there that have bought into the propaganda that the Obama administration is "the most transparent in history" and all the president's talk about looking out for the "working man", watch this video clip of a reporter trying to ask White House advisor Valerie Jarrett a question about how the administration killed off pensions for non-union auto parts workers during that big auto bailout.
You might also wonder why the Secret Service is running interference for Ms Jarrett. Maybe those are the guys put on limited duty after the Cartagena scandal broke.

So much for transparency and looking out for the working man-at least those who are unionized. Another point to consider is whether administration officials lied under oath about this action when they stated that the pension termination was made by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) and not Tim Geithner's Treasury Department and the White House.
"Those emails show that the Treasury Department, led by Secretary Timothy Geithner, was the driving force behind terminating those pensions — a move made in 2009 while the Obama administration implemented its auto bailout plan. The emails contradict sworn testimony in which several Obama administration figures have consistently said that the decision to terminate the pensions came from the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). The PBGC is a federal agency that handles private sector pension benefits issues. Its charter calls for independent representation of pension beneficiaries’ interests."
Hot Air has more on the content of e-mails connected to the decision to terminate the pensions. The e-mails indicate that PBGC was excluded from the decision-making process by Treasury, specifically one Matt Feldman.
"Twenty-nine U.S.C. §1342 maintains that the PBGC is the only government entity that is legally empowered to initiate termination of a pension or make any official movements toward doing so."
"That's a big f----' deal."

So let's summarize. The PBGC is the only agency authorized to take such action, but they were apparently usurped by the Treasury Department and the White House. When questioned under oath, certain administration officials reportedly lied about it.
Sounds like a case for the Justice Department.
Maybe not.
