They (The Regents) are responsible to ensure that public confidence in the University is justified. And they are responsible to see that the University remain aloof from politics and never function as an instrument for the advance of partisan interest. Misuse of the classroom by, for example, allowing it to be used for political indoctrination… constitutes misuse of the University as an institution.”

If you think it's OK for a professor to shove his or her personal political opinions down the throats of his or her students-ignore this letter.

If you think it's OK for a professor to put his or her own personal political opinions up on a university website or university class website for his/her students-ignore this letter.

If you think it's OK for a university to ignore its own policies, ignore this letter.

As part of the on-going controversy at UCLA professor David Delgado Shorter using a UCLA website and UCLA class webpage to promote the boycott of Israel,  my friends at the AMCHA Initiative have sent me this letter to UC President Mark Yudof and the UC Regents asking the University of California to stop professors from doing both of the above. I have signed it. I hope you will too.
