Meanwhile, in Pakistan, the Beat Rolls on
Rolling Stones concert in Pakistan?
By now it's as common and routine as a Cubs' loss in the dog days of summer. Christian girl with Down Syndrome suspected of having burnt pages of a Koran is arrested and faces death penalty as screaming mobs gather in front of her house and demand death. What else is new in Pakistan?

I remember several months ago attending a town hall promoting sharia law at the Islamic Center of Orange County. Among the speakers was the Pakistani Consul General of Los Angeles, who lectured us Americans on human rights. You talk about hypocrisy.
"Today", she said, we are far from what Jefferson and the Constitution talk about". ("So much hatred.") She urged her listeners as Americans to "marry" the Constitution with Islamic values.

Incredible as it sounds, the leading Islamic organizations in the US, who call themselves "moderate" are actively promoting sharia law in this country as being perfectly compatible with the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Never mind those little hidden details about death to apostates, homosexuals, adulteresses and blasphemers.
Like that girl with Down syndrome in Pakistan.
If they can PRACTICE Sharia in a manner that does not violate the constitution, I don't mind. Jews practice kosher without violating the constitution. IF they want to murder people without penalty of law, that's another matter. Don't confuse the issue.
ReplyDeleteSiarlys,
ReplyDeleteI have said many time before that most of sharia is benign. However, once you get into hudud, you see the death penalty for apostasy, homosexuality, blasphemy, the honor killings etc. Those aspects cannot be practiced in the West.
Actually, sharia also says Muslims must obey the laws where they live, but it seems that certain individuals have chosen to practice hudud sharia in the west-ofttimes out of rage etc.
Also keep in mind that there are many religious leaders in the West whose goals is the eventual application of sharia in the west including the US. That would have to be accompanied by the country becoming a Muslim majority country-very long-term. But once that happens, the full sharia would be the goal, stonings and all.
Do I think most US Muslims think that way? No, but when it comes to the religious leaders and groups like CAIR-Yes, I think that is the long range goal.
I suggest you look up "Reliance of the Traveler", which is a guide for Muslims living in non-Muslim countries. It has been approved by most of the leading Islamic schools of thought. You can find it on this site. It is troubling.
Gary, please don't demean our Cubs and Rolling Stones by mentioning them in the same article with crazy sharia law. ;-). I still have nightmares over a magazine article I saw several years ago about sharia law. A man was convicted of raping another man's sister. The learned sharia law's sentence was that HIS SISTER be publically raped by all of the men in the accuser's family. There was a pic in the magazine of the poor woman in a stadium being raped by 6-7 guys while on-lookers in the stadium seats cheared them on. Oh ya, turned out the accuser had lied about the rape. They beheaded him.
