It was a Perry Mason moment today in from of a US Senate committee hearing. The head of compliance for London-based HSBC bank resigned in front of the committee upon being shown documents showing the bank's lax policies in preventing money laundering.

Just as with the international drug traffic, money laundering is an integral part of international terror financing. As you can see in the article, Iran and Saudi Arabia are major players. Iran needs to conduct its business around international sanctions, while Saudi Arabia uses its vast oil wealth to propagate Wahhabi Islam through the funding of mosques and Middle East studies departments in various Western universities. And we haven't even gotten into the money sent to actual terrorist operatives around the world including funding for groups like Hamas and Hizbollah.

But don't you dare call British MP and all around jerk George Galloway a money launderer. No Siree. He collects it up front by hand in places like Western universities and radical rallies and personally hands it over to Hamas in Gaza. I personally observed him passing the box(es) around when he spoke at UC Irvine a couple of years back right in view of university officials. Complaints were made, and the information was passed to the FBI, but nothing ever came of it. Galloway proceeded to New York where he did the same thing with city councilman and race-baiter Charles Barron-who accompanied Galloway to Gaza on his Viva Palestina flotilla.

In other words, it's the same old story; follow the money. That's why we had the so-called Holy Land Foundation trial in Dallas five years back. So-called Islamic charity organizations were funneling money to Hamas et. al. instead of its stated beneficiaries like starving kids, malaria sufferers, earthquake victims, etc., We also know that the US Attorney's Office in Dallas was preparing more indictments last year until ordered to stand down by Eric Holder's corrupt Justice Department.

Today's event in the Senate underscores the need to trace the money when investigating terror. Re-opening the Holy Land Foundation case would be a good start.
