Hat tip Daily Caller
There is an interesting story going on in the back pages of the nation's newspapers and the back corridors of Hillary Clinton's State Department. It concerns the sudden resignation of the US ambassador to Kenya, J. Scott Gration, who had previously served as President Obama's special envoy to Sudan. Daily Caller has an article giving us some background on Mt Gration, as well as our government's approach to the murderous regime in Sudan.

Sudan is another one of those stories you don't hear enough about. In addition to Darfur and the complicated world politics involved, this is a nation where you can still find slavery in existence. It is a place where Arabs practice all sort of horrors upon the black Sudanese, mostly of the southern part (recently South Sudan). In addition to the ethnic difference, there is a religious aspect of it as well: Arab Muslims making life miserable for black Christians and animists. One result of that is the horror of Darfur.
Now we are getting into familiar territory, n'est pas?
Could this be part of the reason our government is so timid when it comes to Sudan, one of the most evil regimes on the planet?
This also leads me to another quandary; this is another country that has been embraced by none other than Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. One would wonder why this black nationalist would embrace an Arab government that has done so much harm to black people. Apparently, Minister Farrakhan puts the religion above the race on this one.

It leads me to question the whole attraction of black Americans to Islam in the first place. On the surface, many say it is a rejection of Christianity as a religion of whites that was instilled upon black slaves. However, if you scratch beneath the surface, you would find that slavery in Africa practiced by Arabs pre-dated the slavery by Christians-and survived the abolition of slavery by the West in the 19th century. How do you think millions of black Africans were introduced to Islam? The same way millions of blacks were introduced to Christianity. Yet, people like Farrakhan would have us believe that it was the Jews who enslaved black people. How convenient.
Although UC-Santa Cruz community studies majors may not know this, the population of Darfur is primarily Muslim, so that set of barbarities is being practiced by an Islamist government on fellow Muslims, in direct violation of the teachings of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). Many of the Darfuri Muslims are indeed quite dark skinned. South Sudan's population is mostly Christian and animist.
ReplyDeleteThis swirl does highlight that the Elijah Muhammed claim, that Islam is THE religion for the black man, was pure fraud. Some Americans of African descent found a way up from American racism by embracing Islam, but it was, as Gary mentions, Arab merchants who established the African trans-continental slave trade, which European merchants later tapped into. (The Arabs needed a new source of slaves because their traditional source, the barbarians of northern Europe, was no longer available. The root word of slave is Slav, another common source).
El Hajj Malik el Shabbaz made the connection that Muslims come in all colors after making the Hajj to Mecca. Farrakhan, who may have been connected to efforts to assassinate el Shabbaz, hasn't caught up with that yet.
