The Lynching in Pakistan and Self Reflection

Many blogs are running the recent story of a mentally deranged man who was arrested in Pakistan for allegedly throwing pages from the Koran onto a street. (Blasphemy against Islam is a crime in Pakistan.) While the man was in custody, word spread like wildfire. A mob stormed the police station, grabbed the man, took him out on the street, beat him, and set him on fire. The below article from The Tribune (PK) tells the story of the incident, which is horrifying. What I find interesting are the comments from Pakistani readers.

  1. This act is an abomination to any civilization, even to Muslims. As the Hadith states (Traditions), Al Sarkhasy said (in Al Mabsoot Vol, 10, p31):
Blind, disabled and mentally-ill war prisoners are not to be killed, because only fighters are to be [intentionally] killed.
Shame on the Islamists who engaged in this horrid murder.
