Fast and Furious: The Whistle Blower Memos

As another shoe falls in the Operation Fast and Furious scandal, Congress now reveals it is in possession of ATF memos written days prior to the "erroneous" February 4, 2011 letter by DOJ denying that ATF had purposely allowed weapons to "walk" into Mexico. The referenced memos were written by an ATF Hqs official warning the Phoenix office not to retaliate against whistle blowers who were complaining about the tactics being used in Fast and Furious. The story is being reported by the Washington Guardian and is posted by Hot Air.

Just like everything else, it doesn't add up. How can the Department of Justice deny in a February 4 letter to Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) that guns were being allowed to cross into Mexico, while, at the same time, an ATF official is sending a memo out to the Phoenix, Arizona field office warning that office not to retaliate against agents who are making the charge? Keep in mind, a copy of that memo was sent to ATF Acting Director Ken Melson. Also keep in mind that whistle blower agents have, indeed, been retaliated against in the form of transfers and assignment to a supervisor who has been quoted as stating that the agency needed "f***" them.

One thing is clear; Grassley and Congressman  Darrell Issa(R-CA) have an inside source in Justice who is leaking them information. Look for more shoes to drop.
