Yesterday, President Obama made yet another trip out to LA to hobnob with the beautiful people and raise campaign funds while tying up traffic again. While speaking at a gay-lesbian-transgender event hosted by Ellen DeGeneris, the president made a tasteless joke about his wife, the First Lady, that brought guffaws from the audience.

A lot of the comments in other reports on this remark make the point that it looks bad in print, but they have not seen the video. I have yet to see the video as well, but I heard the audio on the radio, and it's pretty clear, the reference was to oral sex. If it wasn't at least the audience thought it was judging by their reaction.
Leaving that aside, does this guy do anything besides campaign and go to fund raisers? I keep getting these e-mails from his campaign signed by Obama, Michelle, Biden, Clinton (Bill) and everybody else asking me to send 3 bucks while Romney is "raking in millions from his superpacs". Meanwhile, this guy (Obama) flies all over the country giving campaign speeches to Hollywood types who pay tens of thousands of dollars to listen to him tell oral sex jokes about his wife.
Hey Buddy! That's my First Lady you're talking about!
And the Ellen DeGeneris' of the world think it's hysterically funny.
Update: Here is the YouTube video. You be the judge.

So the battle lines are drawn. The ever-so-serious Ashley Bancroft and the drones at MSNBC et al will say that Obama's words came out differently than he intended, and he clearly looks uncomfortable. Those on the right will say it was a horrible joke at the expense of his wife, he is a misogynist, where are the feminists and that stuff (Tune into Fousesquawk). I do agree that Obama looks uncomfortable, which may explain what otherwise would be called a "pregnant pause". For God's sake, it may never be resolved.
But if the joke was not intended to be about sex, just what kind of joke did Obama really intend to make involving "going all the way down" and him doing "push-ups"?
The answer may determine the outcome of this election.
Well, maybe not.
nothing beats falling off the impending "fiscal cliff" described by Fed reserve Bernanke like a party with off-color jokes.
ReplyDeleteAs a true Republican with libertatian highlights, I realize it is none of my concern how people choose to live their lives unless it connects "with my nose"(Oliver Wendall Holmes).
Obama "change you can believe in", and sadly yes I believe Obama changes his convictions everyday if he believes it will gain him another vote.
Our nation's economy is increasingly fragile and if austere measures that do the least harm are not implemented, Obama will flutter off in 2016 and over our economically smashed bodies at the bottom of the fiscal cliff.
Lately, I've reviewed the President Truman's political career. when confronted with civilian complaints of massive waste and fraud committed by defense contractors during World War II, Truman got in his car and drove all over the country getting first hand evidence of this waste; a true representative of the people because he bothered to look at them and hear their concerns.
Contrast with Obama who only looks at and listens to the wealthy who promise to give him money.
Yes, and complains that it is Romney who is getting all the big bucks. What a hypocrite.

Congrats on the recall in Fullerton.
