Trayvon Martin Case-British Coverage

Anger: Rev Jesse Jackson, right, speaks as Rev. Al Sharpton listens during a community forum on slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Eatonville, Florida
(AP)

The Daily Mail (UK) has an extensive article on the Trayvon Martin shooting case in Florida, complete with pictures. It paints a picture of a furious controversy that has the potential to set race relations in the US back  It is an article worth reading and pondering. It also raises the question as to whether our own media is giving fair coverage to the case.

I should add that according to news reports, the Martin family lawyer has condemned the actions of the New Black Panther Party and stated that the family does as well. Whether or not the allegations regarding the dead youth's history are accurate or not I have no idea. The only editorializing I care to do at this point is to point out that Jesse Jackson Sr. and Al Sharpton on Johnny-on-the-spot, as they always are, exploiting this tragedy for their own agendas. In addition, MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell has joined his colleague Ed Schultz in passing judgement on this case before all the facts are in. It is a case of irresponsible journalism.

As for the actions of the NBPP, J Christian Adams, a formal DOJ official and now writer for PJ Media, has opined on the reward they (NBPP) have offered for George Zimmerman's "apprehension" and DOJ's responsibility to act on it.

To that, I can heartily concur.

  1. Two revealing links!

This whole thing reminds me of the Duke Lacrosse team rape case where the color of the skin of the various parties determined the original assumption of guilt.

The guy who was originally accused of the Atlanta Olympics bombing was originally assumed guilty because he was a "loner" and "lived with his mother(!)."

I wonder where the support for Zimmerman from the Hispanic community is. The black community represented by Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and the new Black Panther Party certainly has no curiosity about what actually happened. Certainly they don't represent all blacks (I hope) but, given that 97% of all blacks voted for Obama, that is a question.

As I have written here before, Obama has put race relations in this country back 50 years.

  2. @ Marty,

In addition to your comment, the New Black Panther Party leader who announced a $10,000 bounty on Zimmerman has been arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon:
“Hashim Nzinga, 49, was in possession of an FN Herstal 5.7×28 handgun that he allegedly sold to the Stone Mountain Pawn Shop on March 5 in DeKalb County.
So we have another scum-bag adding to the drama, which is far out of control and made that way by our President, Federal and State Legislators who know better.
I do agree that BHO has put race relations back 50 years, as he is known to support racists like Derrick Bell.

  3. Hazim Nzinga, Yes, I recall him. He was one of Cynthia McKinney's camp followers with a history of anti-Semitic statements. I asked her about him when she came to UCI.
