They don't call us the Golden State for nothing. This week, President Obama will climb aboard Air Force One with his staff and Secret Service retinue. Traffic in LA and San Francisco will once again be jammed as Obama is driven from one fund raiser to another. Don't bother attending unless you have about $38,000 burning a hole in your pocket. A picture with the Community Organizer will cost you $10,000.

This is the man who is railing against rich people for not paying their "fair share" in taxes. This is the guy whose cronies send out e-mails in his name begging folks like me to send him three bucks. This is the guy who stands for the "little guy", right?
And what will Obama say to his rich supporters? Will he talk of all his accomplishments in office? Nothing to talk about there except disastrous accomplishments like bailouts and his health care bill.
While in LA, I wonder if he will get together with do-nothing mayor, Tony Villaraigosa, who has just been named chair of the 2012 Democratic convention in Charlotte. What a choice. Now both conventions will be chaotic, the Republicans due to the Occupy loons and the Democrats due to Villaraigoas being the chair. He can't manage LA, and actually doesn't try very hard. But have no fear, Tony will manage the convention.
But I digress. Obama's trip just means more tax-payer money being spent so he can raise big bucks from his 1% supporters.
Shoot! I just remembered. I have to go to LA Saturday night. I better leave now.
How is this any different from any modern president ever?
ReplyDeleteSpoiler alert: it's not, but Gary has to whine about it because a Democrat is in office.
Yeah, yeah. All your heroes have their millionaire cronies putting together multi-million dollar PACs to deluge the airwaves with blatant lies about the president, on the time-tested Joseph Goebbels theory that if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it is true... and then you have the nerve to complain that the Obama campaign is trying to raise enough money to match them, and try to get a little accurate information before the same mesmerized public? Your hypocrisy is SOOOOOO transparent at times like this.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Spare us the sanctimonious defensive b.s. that you're only concerned about the traffic jams and the expenditure of taxpayer's money on security.
We've been through that before: anytime you want to sign on for a law that NO sitting president may travel for campaign or fundraising purposes ever, to be applied forever and forever, no matter the president's party affiliation, I'll join you. But then, how exactly IS a president running for a second term going to campaign? Or shall we release them ONLY during the election year? In that case, Obama would be in the clear now, it's 2012.
Siarlys,
ReplyDeleteDont'you see the hypocrisy of Obama engaging in class warfare and stirring up his supporters against the rich who "don't pay their fair share"?
Let me get this straight, Obama condemns the "Rich" for their efforts to work hard and be prosperous, hiring others to help in this venture. Yet, I do not see him criticizing SKG, Facebook, Google, Industrial-Light-and-Sound, nor Movie Stars and Moguls in Hollyweird. He criticizes the Rich yet he comes to Beverly Hills and Corona Del Mar (today) to shovel in the riches. He now wants to have "Super-PAC" money as well. He condemns the Rich on one side of his mouth and praises some on the other. This is all political mouthwash that we deal with, but it is a very overt and in your face. That is the problem.

Jesus said "be wise as serpents and innocent as doves." Lenin said "When we are victorious on a world scale we will use gold to build public lavatories in the world's major cities... but when living among wolves, we must learn to fight like wolves." No, I don't see any hypocrisy in Obama raising money wherever he can get it, in order to meet a mammoth war chest ammassed by his opponents. As the OFA campaign says, "We will not unilaterally disarm." Your cheap propaganda ploy is calculated to induce him to do exactly that.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, on his way to Los Angeles, he stopped in Milwaukee. No complaints about traffic jams. He was very well received, widely acclaimed, his speech was appreciated. For some reason our governor wasn't there to greet the president, but we're going to fire the governor in a few months.
