Welcome to Jewish Studies at UC Davis

Of all the departments devoted to ethic/religious/national groups, only Jewish Studies can manage to be staffed by people who hate the people they are supposed to be researching and teaching about. Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) has sent me one of their articles based on the Jewish Studies Department at UC Davis, which recently hosted a speaker named Gilbert Achcar. Achcar has written a provocative book called "Arabs and the Holocaust", in which he argues that Arab anti-Zionism has nothing to do with anti-Semitism. I have read the book myself. He also tries to downplay the role of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (who lived in Berlin during the Second World War, made broadcasts to the Middle East telling his followers to expel the Jews, and helped organize a Bosnian Muslim SS Division, which fought alongside the Germans.)

Here is an account of the event, by Gail Rubin co-chair of Stand With Us, Davis, in which any attempt at critical or hostile questions during the Q and A was rudely cut off by the sponsors in the Jewish Studies Department.

Someone seriously has to take a look at these so-called Jewish Studies departments, which in reality, are little more than an arm of the Middle East Studies departments, which are uniformly anti-Israel and present students with a one-sided point of view of a most complicated subject.

I have said it many times before, and I will say it again. This is not education; this is indoctrination.

  1. "Arabs and the Holocaust", in which he argues that Arab anti-Zionism has nothing to do with anti-Semitism". This conclusion by Gilbert Achcar is stupid and wrong. Maybe Achcar missed the memo on what MLK stated when he professed that "Anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism". I stand with Martin on this one. This crap spewed by Achcar is similar to the talking point crap coming from Davis Axelrod, when he stated that Rev. Wright's statements were taken out of context. Yah David "God dam America" and "America's chickens have come home to roost" have been miss interpreted. May backside! We will see more of this disinformation as the nixus between Obama's adminstration and the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood become closer and stranger bed-fellows. Beware, the Alinskite Axelrod will try to sell you frozen excrement on a stick and call it a Fudgecycle.

  2. I have a better idea: let's require the Jewish studies department to have at least 15 percent Muslim professors, and 25 percent Christian, then require the Arab studies department to have at least one third Chaldean Christians and 25 percent Jews, and require the Muslim studies department to have at least 25 percent Coptic Christians and 25 percent Jews...

    ...Diversity is good for EVERYONE!

(Arab hostility to Jews has an entirely different basis than European anti-Semitism. The Grand Mufti's alliance of convenience with Hitler was what it was, and should not be dismissed, although he and Hitler undoubtedly both considered each other hopelessly inferior useful idiots.)
