Recalls in Fullerton

"Sensitivity training. That's what we need, right boys?"

In response to the police beating death of Kelly Thomas, a homeless man in Fullerton, California, the citizens have launched a recall drive against three members of the city council, who just don't seem to have much of a clue. This is the bunch who appointed none other than OC Human Relations Commission CEO, Rusty (Empty Suit) Kennedy to put together some kind of sensitivity training for cops on how to treat the homeless.
Friends for Fullerton's Future web site is leading the recall drive and is no fan of Kennedy. In the below post thread reporting on the recall signatures, I added a comment asking whether we could recall Kennedy. Here is one response I received from "van get it da artiste":

"We, the good people of fullerton, don’t need to recall the CEO of the Orange County Human Relations Commission(OCHRC), Rusty Kennedy, because his cushy, do-nothing job is dependent on him ranting and raving about the tip of the iceberg racism , hate crimes and hate incidents, usually these add up to approximately 5 hate crimes a year out of a population of three million, the rest are the usual juveniles vandalizing their local junior high.
It is our county board of supervisors who determine whether to continue funding the tax dollar subsidized OCHRC , a commission whose mission statement is protecting the civil rights of the community. The exception is when the community’s civil rights are being pummeled by the fullerton PD. Rusty Kennedy’s OCHRC never uttered a peep about hate crimes when the good people of fullerton were systematically abused by its police force. And this is very perplexing because the only representative of law enforcement on the board of OCHRC was then fullerton Police chief Pat McKinley who now serves on fullerton’s city council.
Well, maybe Rusty was too busy declaring to the media that roving bands of white supremacists were writing racial and religious epithets on public places in the OC in the middle of the night, in January 2010. The problem with that excuse was there never existed roving bands of white supremacists who struck at midnight and struck fear into the hearts of those who believed Rusty Kennedy’s accusations had some shred of evidence. A few weeks after Rusty Kennedy’s unfounded accusations, the police found the culprit, a mentally ill fifty-six year old woman living in subsidized housing; just her and her spray paint can.
We, the good people of the OC, must demand Rusty Kennedy simply answer the question why he never seemed to know or care his hometown’s police force molested women they arrested, perjured themselves, false arrest, excessive force and beating death of a homeless, disabled 130 pound man. And we, the good people of the OC, must demand Rusty Kennedy support his claims with credible data gained from authentic research that the number of hate crimes in the OC are “the tip of the iceberg” and indeed his OCHRC has improved multi-cultural harmony with valid evidence not his hyperbole, pathos and bathos.
The real issue is not whether Rusty Kennedy’s Orange County Human Relations Commission is useless, the issue is why our elected officals believe it is appropriate for them as civic leaders to outsource their morals and ethics to any commission, taskforce or agency."

Well stated, Sir. Too bad you won't be receiving one of those famed "Rusty Awards" the OCHRC hands out every year.

  1. Oh what fun! We can exchange recall news for the next few months. (Hint: If you get over a million signatures, it definitely builds momentum).
