Tonight's Debate

I will be brief after watching tonight's Republican debate from Des Moines.

Gingrich has solidified his lead. Nobody laid a glove on him, he scored points on offense against Mitt Romney, and he was positively brilliant when asked about his recent comments about Palestinians being an invented people. Finally, somebody directed the public's attention to much-maligned Israel and the existential threat they face from people who don't even recognize their right to exist. Gingrich also handled the issue of marital fidelity as well as he could. He won the debate tonight, just as he has won all the debates, and as he will win the remaining debates. President Obama should dread having to debate Gingrich.

Romney did himself no favors by offering to bet Rick Perry $10,000 over some issue that I have already forgotten-as will everyone else. How many of us have $10,000 to casually bet?

I would like to see Rick Santorum start getting more attention. The guy is solid from a conservative point of view. He should also be considered for the VP slot.

So Gingrich marches on. He ain't lovable. He ain't handsome. His might be a chaotic presidency if you can believe what some Republicans who worked with him when he was Speaker say. Lord knows he has baggage. But you have to give him credit. He is formidable.

  1. Gingrich did well this evening. He will probably be the Republican nominee. The Obama camp must be very concerned. Yes, Gingrich has baggage, but this is a light overnight bag compared to Obama's feckless record of the destruction of the American infrastructure. All Gingrich has to do is have his people read "Culture of Corruption", "Obama-Nation", "The Manchurian President", and "Radical and Chief" to get enough information to bury Obama. Of course, Obama's record as President is enough, but Obama and his minions will play very dirty. After all, it is the "Rules for Radicals" way. But, the tonnage of far-left, Marxist ideology of Obama, his Czars, cronyism and lies, will take him down and nothing that Axelrod can do will be able to stop the avalanche that will bury Obama.
