Now the Rose Parade Will Be Occupied

I never bother to watch the Rose Parade each January 1st in Pasadena. To me, it's boring.

But it won't be boring this year. Guess who is coming to Pasadena. The Occupy Movement.

And what's more, everybody's favorite protester, Cindy Sheehan, will be there.

"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah."

Yes, folks. This year will be dramatically different. Instead of watching some old fart sheriff riding a golden Palomino horse, it will be cops on horseback galore.

And if you were planning to camp out overnight to get a great seat on Colorado Blvd, you better get started right now to beat the new rush of attendees.

Oh, there will still be all your favorite personalities riding on floats, but this year there will be an extra bonus.

Michael Moore. In fact, he will be a float.

The organizers insist that everything will be peaceful and orderly. Just like always.

So all you 1%-ers who are planning to personally watch the Rose Parade, get ready. The 99%-ers are coming to town.

  1. What a conundrum for the crowd from Madison. Where do they sit? Which side do they root for (in the parade I mean)? Do they want the game to go on, or not?

That reminds me, UC-Santa Cruz is advertising for a stockroom clerk in Milwaukee, on Craigslist. Yes, they specified Milwaukee. Why I don't know. I don't think its a telecommute job.

  2. The OWSers are predicting 4,000 to 40,000 protesters. I think in fact 40 will show up.

The Rose Parade is right after New Years Eve, and the majority of the "protesters" are actually stoned out college kids. These idiots will be so hung over that the idea of any noise will make them sick.

  3. Actually the Rose Parade is on January 2 this year. I believe whenever New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, they have the parade on Monday the 2nd.

  4. The OWS group is lead by the L.A. OWS organizer. This man is a Marxist, as he "travels" in such groups. He is also a looser, as he has failed in must of his jobs and projects. Actually, he is the poster child for the OWS minions. The Rose Parade OWS will be able to walk behind the end of the parade, with all the other parade attendees. Most likely, the looser will claim that the citizens are OWS protesters. Look for the OWS "Human Float" called the "Vampire Squid" (no relation to this Squid).

  5. Squid: Please define "Marxist." Then specifically apply your definition to the 21st century.

I'm not aware there is any definition that has a common meaning to any sizeable number of human beings.

After all, the world's largest remaining communist party is running the world's most ruthless capitalist economy. It is becoming difficult to even define what is "the proletariat" these days.

  6. @ Siarlys,

Check the Communist Party U.S.A. They will give you the necessary material for your answer. I am sure that Anita Dunn can help in this area as well. Maybe Van Jones can be helpful if Anita does not come through for you. If this is not enough, check on the Mid-West Academy. Of course, if you are local, contacting a certain social studies professor at Cal State Long Beach may help you with your need for knowledge, as she announced to her students in the last meeting, that she is a Marxist.

  7. If someone doesn't know how to spell "loser" how can you expect him to define what a Marxist is? Gosh this squid is dumb.

  8. Elmer,

We all make spelling mistakes, especially on comment threads that have no spell-check.

Squid is a psychiatrist. What are you?

  9. @ Elmer,

There is no correlation between spelling errors and intelligence. Check the research! In fact, those individuals who make spelling errors and have high capacity in math, are very capable in scholarship. It is those folks who move fast through their writing who are, in fact, at the top of their game. The research points to this fact as well.
The story is Elmer, that I edit a highly acclaimed, magazine and teach graduate students research techniques for masters thesis purposes. I have to sigh off on thesis documents that I edit.
So, let us not cast aspersion on fellow writers.

    Happy New Year Elmer.

  10. Psychology is more a form of mind control than a science. Squid is a psychologist. Why hadn't I guessed that sooner?

I can't say I am impressed by his list of source material. None of them sound the least bit authoritative. Is that the best you can do? No wonder you don't know what a Marxist is.

OWS should call off this obstruction. There is important work to be done at the Rose Bowl: collecting signature to recall Gov. Walker.

  11. I am sorry Squid, but you spelled it wrong twice. Being a psychiatrist doesn't make one smart, just educated, and certainly not right about everything.
I am not a psychiatrist but I know one. Happy New Year.

  12. @ Siarlys and Elmer,

You are both not worth the candle. Your effort toward good intention has impaled, impeded and impregnated your good intention.
