DOJ Intervenes in Hajj Case in Chicago

You might want to get your handkerchiefs before you read this story in the Chicago Tribune about the teacher who sued the school district because they wouldn't let her have time off to go to the Hajj in Mecca.

Kinda gets ya right here, don't it?

For a more sober analysis, I refer you to Zuhdi Jasser's response.

Jasser, of course, is one of the truly moderate Muslims in America, who isn't afraid to call terrorism what it is and call out the phony moderate groups like CAIR (who undoubtedly were involved in this lawsuit.) What we have is the creation of a privileged class.

It is not surprising that the Holder Justice Department jumped into this unworthy lawsuit. It is part of their agenda. They pick these cases very selectively, you know.

And don't forget the mandated sensitivity training in the judgement. Here we go again. That should create a few more jobs for those sensitivity professionals out there. They can even call it Green jobs.

Pass the Propofol.

  1. Now you are insinuating that seeking time of from work to make the Hajj is an act of terrorism! (No, I'm sure that's not what you meant, but your phrases trip over your two left feet in more or less that pattern).

I recall reading an appeals court decision on this, and the teacher's case was not impressive. But it was not hardly a case of Islamic terrorism -- just a typical case of an American who wants what they want, wants it now, and is prepared to use any legal argument available to get it.

IF school policies, and the exercise of discretion, made it impossible for her to EVER make the Hajj, she might have a case. But the facts didn't sustain anything of the kind. Muslims are only expected to make this trip once in their life, "if possible." For most Muslims before the era of rail and air transport, it was not possible. Of course Muhammed never thought about Muslims in Indonesia.
