Hat tip to the Blaze
Karen Lugo has written an article in the Blaze about that dust-up at an amusement park in New York over women being able to wear hijabs on certain rides. As reported, a mini-riot took place and the usual accusations of Islamophobia are flying.

An important point is raised here. If this particular amusement park suffered a fatality a few years back, that certainly explains their reluctance to risk another tragedy and their insistance on strictly enforcing safety rules.
Turn this story around. What about the Muslim women who choose not to cover themselves and wind up beaten, brutalized, and the victims of honor killings? That's a lot worse than not getting on an amusement park ride.
ReplyDeleteI'm referring to those recurring episodes in America. There was Noor Almaleki who got run over in Peoria. Assiya Hassan was decapitated by her husband in Buffalo. Mother, Rona Amir Mohammed Shafia, and three teen aged daughters, Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17 and Geeti,13 were drowned in Kingston, Ontario. The Shafia family hails from Kabul, Afghanistan, one of the countries in which honour crimes are most common, and lived in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, for 15 years before arriving in Canada two years ago.
All things considered, they probably figure it is better to wear the things and hassle with the amusement park than deal with the family males.
