Israel Law Center Warning to US Universities re: Anti-Semitism

Hat tip to Orange County Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism

The Israel Law Center, a Israeli civil rights organization, has notified hundreds of US universities that they could be liable for damages when legitimate criticism of Israel degenerates into anti-Semitc harassment of Jews on campus because they support Israel. The letter also refers to funds being collected on US university campuses that are used for unlawful attacks against the state of Israel in possible violation of the US Neutrality Act.

Fousesquawk comment: If you want an example of funds being collected on university campuses used to support attacks against the state of Israel, I give you....

  1. No patriotic American should stand for this blatant interference in our country's internal affairs by a foreign power.

  2. Free Speech has limits Anonymous. Hate speech is one of those limits. Inciting to riot is another.

One cannot cry fire in a theater if there is no fire.

The ILC can and will file suit. And they will use US Laws against the MSU.

Siarlys: The ILC is an independent organization. It is not part of the Israeli government.

It is like the ACLU filing suit overseas.

  3. Leave it to anonymous Muslims presuming to tell anyone about the Constitution or what the American culture is or what it does. Last time I looked there were no Achmeds or Mohammids signing the Declration of Independence or participating in any way in the formation of the Constitution or Bill of Rights debates. They have no sense of the true fabric of our culture.

Free speech to us, is that everyone has the right to speak as long as it doesn't incite violence. I get a chance to speak and then you get your chance. We don't drown each other out or conspire not to let someone else speak. We don't believe in the heckler's veto. It is not anything at alll is ok as long as it is anti-Semitic or pro Muslim.

This is nothing more than warning signs we see all the time...Speeding Laws Will be Enforced ... Shoplifters will be prosecuted, etc.

Muslims have different cultural values than civililized societies. They are more tribal in nature, such as any lying is acceptable in the furtherance of Islam. There is no comparable concepts in Islam to say, Richeous Gentiles (others); Turn the other cheek; Do unto others; Blessed are the meek, etc., etc.

The progeny of Ishmael has a culture that, as a practical matter, is me against my brother, my brother and I against our father, my father, my brother and me against the tribal chief, our tribe against the other tribes, our tribes against the other tribes. Loot whatever you can conquer. Subject those whoever are inferior. Certainly exploit all the tolerant customs in host countries until you can impose your culture.

  4. Anonymous,

"Stand up to jewish thuggery?" Who has been assaulted? Seems to me that some Jews are standing up to thuggery on our UC campuses.

I understand your righteous American patriotic sensitivites here, but this is a civil rights group, not the Israeli govt. I think Israelis have every right to resent American campuses used as a collection point for money and other resources to go to Hamas. In addition, some jewish students who have been harassed have been Israeli citizens.

Let us say that university campuses in Canada were centers of funding for al qaida to fund attacks against the US and American students were being harassed and pushed around on campus, would you be enraged if the ACLU (a wild example) filed or threatened a lawsuit? Foreigners can sue in US courts last I checked.

Free speech is one thing, but assaults and intimidation are another.

  5. To Anonymous,

" And we have no problem busting caps and splitting skulls to protect our fundamental Constitutional rights."
This is what th American legal system did to a Saudi prince of the Wahabi sect, who sued Rachel Ehrenfeld, to prevent her from pubishing her book: "Funding Evil". So Anonymous, we agree. Americans busted Saudi caps and split Saudi skulls, by passing "Rachel's Law". BTW, this Prince belongs to the same family of the Saudi King. The same King that Obama bowed to.

  6. Thuggery or not, and Jewish or not, and whether ILC is part of the government or not, yet and still, it's funny how people who complain about foreign influence in all kinds of other respects think it is A-OK if it comes out of Israel and echoes a criticism they themselves were already making. Aren't you 'mericans good enough to handle this without furrin' interference?

P.S. Findalis, if "hate speech" is one of the limits on free speech, then Geert Wilders maybe should have been convicted. Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.

  7. Oh boy, where do we begin.

    First off I'm Hispanic/Catholic and not Arab/Muslim.

"Last time I looked there were no Achmeds or Mohammids signing the Declaration of Independence or participating in any way in the formation of the Constitution or Bill of Rights debates."

True that. But last time I checked there were no founding fathers with names like Chaim, Goldstein, or Rabinowitz. America was founded on enlightened Christian values and not barbaric Judeo-Christian values (we don't stone gays or burn witches as Jewish law commands).

  8. "America was founded on enlightened Christian values and not barbaric Judeo-Christian values (we don't stone gays or burn witches as Jewish law commands"

    Wow!

Frankly, I don't care if Jews stoned people 2-3ooo years ago. They are not doing it now. When is the last time Christians burned a witch? Jews, like Christians, experienced the Enlightenment long ago. Don't you think the Enlightenment carried over to America's founding fathers?

What if I talked about Hispanics the way you talk about Jews? What would you call me?

    ReplyDelete
  9. No Jews signed the Declaration but one funded the Revolution:

    Haym Salomon

Mr. Salomon died in poverty, but the nation he loved grew strong.

How many Hispanics signed the Declaration or the Constitution.

And while you are at it, look up the Treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo And The Gadsden Purchase before you cry that the land was stolen.

Siarlys: Geert Wilders spoke out against a religion, he didn't advocate the killing of the members of the religion. Everything he said was true. The truth isn't a hate crime. You should know that one.

  10. "How many Hispanics signed the Declaration or the Constitution."

We end questions with a question mark and not a period. Perhaps a few ESL classes taught by the Fouse will help you with your writing skills.

I don't know how many Hispanics, but atleast one Catholic (Charles Carroll) signed the Declaration of Independence and atleast two Catholics (Daniel Carroll, Thomas Fitzsimons) signed the Constitution.

Haym Solomon was the Bernie Madoff and Marc Rich of the American Revolutionary period.

  11. Findalis, everything Wilders said was a lie. There, now you say its all true, and I say its all a lie. If we end up in court, who is committing "hate speech"? That is why the First Amendment does not allow the government to engage in prior restraint of speech, based on some bureaucrat's, or some judge's, or some outraged citizen's, sense of what might constitute "hate speech."

If it is libelous, on American terms, not British or Canadian terms, civil damages are available.

If someone incites or solicits murder, it is not "hate speech," it makes one an accessory before the fact to premeditated homicide.

I still marvel that people who decry any Supreme Court justice looking to foreign law for any reason, can applaud some law center in Israel messing with Aemrican universities. I guess it all depends on which foot the shoe is on.

Yes, there were Catholics who signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Yes, Haym Solomon was a patriotic supporter of the War of Independence, and recognized as such by George Washington. No, there were no Arabs or Hispanics available to participate. None of that makes any difference in what the principles of the Constitution were and are. That's why Gary's wife is entitled to full American citizenship.

American was founded on Enlightenment values that were neither Christian nor Jewish nor Muslim nor Buddhist nor atheist.

  12. Siarlys: What lies did Wilders said. Please give specifics. In fact everything he has said about Islam has come from the Koran. I suggest you read that book. Everyone should read the Koran at least once. You would see his remarks are directly from the teaching of Muhammad (May He Rot In Hell).

Wilders never incited to murder. He wants a slowing of Muslim immigration to his nation so it doesn't become like Norway or Sweden. Look at those nations to see what happens when you allow unrestricted immigration from the Third World.

  13. It is not racist to oppose the muzzling of free speech on American college campuses by the Jews.

It is not racist to oppose the financial rape of America by the State of Israel.

It is not racist to oppose the racism and bigotry that is inherent in the religion of Judaism.

  14. "I also assume you don't know about the other Judeo-Christian values this country has."

I sure don't. I know conservatives love to talk about Judeo-Christian values but when it comes to naming specifics they fall short. Perhaps you can enlighten us and name some American values that derive from the Judeo-Christian tradition.

"Try to find some Muslim ones in the founding while you are looking for Muslims."

Almost all Muslims present in America during the Revolutionary period were African slaves. Infact it was Jewish teaching that led White Christians to accept and tolerate the enslavement of Africans. Judaism teaches that Blacks are a cursed race must serve the other races (see Curse of Ham).

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anonymous,

Do you know how black, sub-Saharan Africans became Muslims? Through slavery by Arabs. That is a fact, and it is not racist to state it-to use your phrase.

As for free speech on campus, I think I have seen and heard enough to comment. I have personally told Amir Abdel Malik Ali that I do not question his right to speak and I have never advocated that he be dragged off to jail. He is exercising free speech albeit hateful speech. There are many others.

But we have a right to counter that speech and condemn it and bring it to the attention of the dim bulbs who run our universities. Jews have a right to speak out when free speech creates a hostile atmosphere where they can be insulted as jews, physically assaulted, surrounded by thugs as they try to get in their car to leave an event, have rocks thrown at their heads, cameras shoved in their faces and swastikas painted on bathroom stalls. Jews have a right to say that they will attend other colleges if the abuse continues.

If Hispanic students had to put up with that as the price of attending college, you would (rightfully)scream bloody murder.

  16. Miggie, you obviously don't know much about the history of anti-Semitism in the Roman Catholic Church, (and the Greek Orthodox Church) if you think anti-Semitism is unique to Muslims. Jews cheerfully aided the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem -- which allowed them back into the city for the first time in over 400 years, and of Iberia.

For more centuries than not up until 1900 or so, Muslim ruled nations were the safest place for Jews to live. (Exceptions include the dominion of the Almohades, mystically anti-Semitic, and 17th-18th century Holland, which after some resistance admitted large numbers of Sephardim, particularly refugees from Catholic Spain.

Findalis, I have within two feet of me as I type a copy of Marmaduke Pickthall's The Meaning of the Glorious Qu'ran. It has some profoundly inspiring verses, and some deeply disturbing ones, not unlike the Sefer Tanach, and the Gospels. I have become particularly skeptical of the fourth gospel, written by one of history's worst anti-Semites, a Greek by the name of Ioannes. That is heresy even for a Methodist, but we must take truth where we find it.

If you review Gary's posts about Wilders, you will find a reasonable summary of where and how I believe he lied or viciously distorted the truth. In large part, he attributes the sins of various cultures that pre-date but survive Islam, and various national states, to the inherent fundamental prescripts of Islam. Ask Shireen Qudosi about that sometime.

Note on African history: It is certainly well documented that the trans-continental African slave trade was developed by mostly Arabic and mostly Muslim merchants. It was this well established network that European slave traders later tapped into.

It is not true that this is THE mechanism by which darker-skinned Africans who became Muslim acquired their faith. Some accepted it without becoming slaves. Some were freed upon accepting it -- which was also the custom in Europe for those enslaved because they were not Christians.

One of the horrifying features of slavery in the Americas is that the right to freedom after converting to the dominant religion was abolished, the better to keep ownership of the chattel, and their descendants, ad infinitum.

  17. Siarlys,

I strongly suggest you take a European vacation. Visit the suburbs of Paris, walk around and see what is going on. Then, go to Malmo and take a stroll through Rosengaard one fine evening. Walk through Amsterdam with a yarmulka on your head and see what happens.

The point I can't seem to get through to you is that you can bring up all the stuff from the Dark Ages and Jews and Christians willreadily admit bad things were done.

They are not doing them now.

Let's talk about who is doing what to whom now.

  18. Anonymous,

C'mon! Is that the best you can do? So one student perpetrated a hoax. Shame on her. What am I supposed to do list other hoaxes that I am aware of like a couple of years ago at Elmhurst, Ill?

yes, you are correct that black African slaves became Christian as a result of their slavery. Who's defending that? Everybody knoews it.

You may not know that by 1865 when the Civil war ended that slavery was already abolished in Europe. They finally came to the realization that it was wrong. Yet, slavery continued within Africa and in certain parts persists today (Sudan).

  19. Anonymous,
How about the 10 Commandments? Is that Judeo-Christian enough for you? Is it specific enough for you? You may be surprised to learn that it comes from the Torah and not the Koran.

Insofar as Jewish "teaching" about slavery to Christians, I think you believe you know more about the religion than Jews with Jewish educations. Which rabbinical school did you go to? As far as I know, the Torah is the first place where they command humane treatment of slaves. I know you would like to impose 21st century sensitivities on Mideast cultures of over 4 millennia ago but this was a huge FIRST step.

It also just happens that in this week's Torah parsha, the rape of women taken in battle is prohibited. That's something Muslims in the Sudan and elsewhere have yet to prohibit to this day.

I confess that I never heard of the "Curse of Ham." I took the trouble to look it up in the book of Jewish Literacy by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin and there is nothing in there about it there either.

You may have read about it in your copy of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion." Perhaps the updated version has informed you that Hyam Salomon was the Bernie Madoff /Marc Rich of the American Revolution. Too bad that the Founding Fathers didn't realize that about him because they were very appreciative of his efforts.

I never cease to be amazed at the propagandizing efforts of the anti-Semites. They get people to believe some amazing things. They re-write history and get people to believe proven forgeries and false attributions, no matter how outlandish or fraudulent.

I have deleted your last rant against Jews, and from this point on you can find another forum to vent your hate. No further comments from you will be posted. You are sick and you are a coward for not putting your name to your sick beliefs.

  21. Good for you, Gary.
You have the good sense not to fall for that perversion of "freedom of speech" that some try to exploit to poison and thereby change the nature of public discourse here.

I have another candidate for you. Is just plain painfully stupid with sick beliefs and rants enough to get someone blocked?

The site would be more interesting if bloggers could have rational and engaging exchanges without having to skip over so many nonsense posts from one source. I bet those posts could be traced back to some insane asylum where they allowed patients access to computers.
