Hat tip to Creeping Shariah
There was a time when Minnesota was the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Now it is becoming the land of 10,000 terrorists, thanks to the State Department's program of bringing in some 85,000 Somali refugees in the 1990s. Many were resettled in Minneapolis. We all see now how that program is today "bearing fruit".

And if Ghaddafi doesn't fall in Libya, the next wave will be the Libyan fighters who are trying to overthrow him. Much as I wish them success, we still have no clue as to who these people are and what kind of Libya they envision. According to several reports, many are jihadists. Some have taken to killing black foreigners from sub-Saharan Africa, whom they perceive to be on Ghaddafi's side. It's all one big lovely mess. And if they lose, you can bet that we will bring tens of thousands of them here.
As Ronald Reagan used to say... there you go again... back to denouncing all 85,000 Somali refugees for the fact that a handful have gone back to join the Shabab. Have you counted 10,000, or were you just assuming one per lake? What did the Qu'ran say about lakes anyway?
ReplyDeleteI would give you 10-1 odds that a good half of those thrilled with jihad will find out all over again why their families fled to the USA, and count themselves lucky if they can only get back home to momma.
I have a friend who lives near Minneapolis. She's telling me that parts of that city are now called little Mogadishu and while it's not as dirt-poor, it's becoming increasingly just as violent.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Siarlys can take a spin up to Little Mogadishu and report back to us.
ReplyDeleteJust as soon as you mail me the round trip Greyhound ticket Gary. I'll find a place to stay without adding that to the tab.
ReplyDeleteSiarlys,
ReplyDeleteHere's some bedtime reading for you from an expert.

The problem, thanks to the Democrats and Senator Kennedy, is the 1985 Immigration law which changed the entire ethnic composition of the US in one generation.
ReplyDeleteFrom Wiki:
By equalizing immigration policies, the act resulted in new immigration from non-European nations which changed the ethnic make-up of the United States. Immigration doubled between 1965 and 1970, and doubled again between 1970 and 1990. The most dramatic effect was to shift immigration from Europe to Asia and America.
Long Term results: A Boston Globe article attributed Barack Obama’s win in the 2008 U.S. Presidential election to a marked reduction over the preceding decades in the percentage of whites in the American electorate, attributing this demographic change to the Act.[5] The article quoted Simon Rosenberg, president and founder of the New Democrat Network, as having said that the Act is "the most important piece of legislation that no one’s ever heard of," and that it "set America on a very different demographic course than the previous 300 years,"[5] which is contrary to Ted Kennedy's initial claim during debate of the Act that "the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset."[6]
It's not the ethnicity that is important. It's the philosophical attitude that matters. As long as we stay conservative and get along, that's what I care about.
ReplyDeleteNormally, I would agree with you on this but as we've seen, it doesn't work as well as it used to. Instead of a melting pot we've become more of a bouillabaisse.
ReplyDeleteWhen you take the dog, you take the fleas with it. The more recent immigrants bring with them their own cultures which, all too often, they seek to impose on us.
We see it in Minneapolis, Dearborn, Kentucky, etc. Right here in Los Angeles, demonstrators closed down our freeways, to chant and carry Mexican flags on Cinco de Mayo or for some other cause they had. Nobody sees anything wrong with La Raza (The Race) which promotes the notion that southern United States is really Mexican territory.
We used to have a common culture that united us. Now our ballots are written in a half dozen languages. There are areas in Orange County where all the signs are in some other language.
UCI is a trouble spot because one group not only hates the US but wants to impose Sharia Law. It is not the only place but one of the worst campuses.
It all started to change with the 1985 Law. It may not be "post hoc ergo proctor hoc" but is pretty damn close to it.
Thanks, Senator Kennedy, for your compassion and your disregard of what would logically come next.
.
Miggie,
ReplyDeleteThis has nothing to do with xenophobia or racism. When it comes to multiculturalism, hell, that's my middle name as anyone who knows me will attest. I've lived in three other countries, married a Mexican and learned a dew languages along the way. I am a big proponent of immigration (legal) but there must be some controls and common sense applied. We have the right to expect assimilation, acceptance of our traditions and loyalty. The same goes in any country. That's why Europe is having so many problems. Again, it has nothing to do with etnicity or skin coler. Who do you think is the most well-assimilated group of immigrants in the US? Asians.
So, are there good Somali immigrants here? Sure. But it is not racist to state that we have a problem. Just ask Ayaan Hirsi Ali (from Somalia).
I hope I am not so concerned about this as to be xenophobic but take a look around.
ReplyDeleteLook, we all came from someplace else but in the last few decades the desire to become "American" has diminished. There are exceptions, like the Asians, but on the whole, and notwithstanding individuals and groups that assimilate just fine, the desire to maintain the old country's culture and religion is pervasive.
Just look around. Look at the composition of our jail population. Compare the percentage of any group in prison to their percentage in the general problem and the problem groups will jump out. Look at the problems in Minneapolis, Dearborn, etc. and tell me the whether they are likely to be recent arrivals or long term residents.
Anyway, write something in the "dew" language. I haven't seen anything written in that language before.
.
In an aging industrial town called South Milwaukee, some civic boosters decided to spruce up the old train station with an "immigrant monument." It showed a family of European peasants carrying their luggage. But when a sign went up asking people to sponsor bricks for the plaza, to pay for the "immigrant monument," I heard some people say "Immigrants? Oh, no." Nuff said on "immigrants."
ReplyDeleteGary, what makes this cyber-place-with-a-view(point) "expert" on anything? Looks like another case of "silicon will put up with anything you type into it."
Not that Siarlys would make up a story about a monument or what he heard someone say but I did a Google search on "immigrant monument milwaukee" and nothing come up. Google, by the way, has all the published news accounts as well as many other references. So, if this was ever actually an event, Google would have it. If you have some link to this episode that Google doesn't have, I'd like to see it.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, It confirms that Siarlys lives in an alternate universe.
.
I may have misled you Miggie, it wasn't South Milwaukee, it was the adjacent lakeside community of Cudahy, also in Milwaukee County.
ReplyDeleteNot that Miggie failing to find something on Google is proof of anything, but here's a link:

Your welcome. Always glad to assist in your life-long edification process.
Silly me. I should have known that when Siarlys writes "In an aging industrial town called South Milwaukee ..." he really means Cudahy, which may well be in the same county. I'm going to inform Google about the flaw in their search algorithms.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the edification. I really should discipline myself better to completely ignore his posts.
Gee Siarlys, I note you don't have much to say about the way your fun-loving Islamonazi Somalis treat Christians in their islamonazi pigsty -- or that FGM is legal and practiced against girls whether they like it or not (e.g. Aayan Hirsi).
