As promised, here are some amateur photos taken at the Erlangen Bergkirchweih (beerfest), which ran from June 9-20, 2011. (It is scheduled according to the Whitsuntide religious season.)

In the blue shirt is a retired Erlangen cop (with his son) who happened to sit next to us. We reminisced about the good old days policing the city and troops way back when.

Renamed in honor of the German commander who (against orders) surrendered Erlangen peacefully to the Americans on April 16, 1945. Within two hours, he was killed by holdouts while trying to get them to surrender.
How was the beer? Was it mostly pilsner type? Were those bratwurst
ReplyDeletesausages? Brats are always good.
I hope you had fun Gary.
The beer was great. Yes, pilsner type but a special brew just for the beer fest. Brats always good as well. I hated to leave.
ReplyDeleteI used to have some family in Germany, some 2nd cousins.
ReplyDeleteDid you see any evidence that Germany is becoming Turkistan?
Hopefully I'll see you at the next ACT for America meeting (August).
Have a good week Gary.
An ACT for America fan.
This is really cool. I worked in Erlangen one summer and it was a beautiful town. Nice to see the photos.
