Another Award for UCI Muslim Student Union
"One person's hate speech is another person's education."
File this under the "Are you kidding me?" label. UC-Irvine's liberal Cross Cultural Center has bestowed another award on the Muslim Student Union in spite of last year's suspension.
Steve Emerson's Investigative Project on Terrorism has the report.

As previously noted on this blog, the CCC (Cross Cultural Center) is pretty much the MSU's informal clubhouse. (They do their prayers on the patio outside.) It is not surprising that the liberal CCC has given them another award as well as their publication, Alklima, which has featured the musings of H. Rap Brown from his prison cell where he is serving life for killing a cop.
This is another reason, in my humble view, why supporters of Israel should not support the Olive Tree Initiative, which is sending Jewish students to the West Bank to meet with members of the International Solidarity Movement and even Hamas.
Do you really believe this program (run out of the university and spreadng to other UC campuses) is fair and balanced?
Huh? What's the connection with Olive Tree? Or are you indulging in the logic of the Russian nobleman who said "You hit my Jews, I'm going to hit yours"?
ReplyDeleteCross Cultural Centers dont' really grab my interest. They tend to accentuate and prolong differences that are better broken down and homogenized.
UCI is involved in running Olive Tree. If UCI can honor a student group they suspended in the same year, namely MSU, why should anyone who supports Israel trust UCI?
ReplyDeleteThat's the connection.
Tenuous Gary, very tenuous.
ReplyDeleteThe Ku Klux Klan in its 1920s incarnation carried the American flag in every march.
Why should anyone who is not a racist honor the American flag?
LOL, talk about "tenuous connections". Siarly's argument is an instance of false analogy, because what the Klan did in the 20's has absolutely nothing to do w/what Gary was referring to.
