Tarik Ramadan is a Swiss-based Muslim scholar, who is the grandson of Hassan al-Banna, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. Many regard him as a moderate. Many do not. Ramadan had been banned from entering the US until recently when Hillary Clinton's State Department lifted that ban, at which time, Ramadan went on a US speaking tour. Below is a video of Ramadan giving a closing prayer in front of a French-speaking audience. This might shed light on whether he is a peaceful moderate or not.

ReplyDeleteCan you imagine another four years of an administration like this, unconcerned with reelection?
.
I've heard more aggressive prayers offered by Christians. Remember, in the eyes of Judaism, Christianity is the idolatrous deification of an executed criminal. Most of us, of either persuasion, have learned to tone that stuff down, so we aren't distracted with a sense of duty to throw rocks at each other's children, burn down each other's homes and houses of worship, etc. What does Tarik Ramadan mean? Maybe blood, maybe firm advocacy.
ReplyDeleteAs always, it is an error to translate text from Arabic into English, and leave al-Lah untranslated and miscapitalized. It is an error Muslims as well as Christians, Jews, and atheists routinely make. The subtitles should read "The God, strengthen their faith in Palestine..."
Miggie, I can not only IMAGINE another four years, I can envision it happening. I've already got a 2012 sticker on my car.
