Stephen Schwartz Speaks Out on Phony Muslim Moderates
Stephen Schwartz
Stephen Schwartz, who is a convert to Islam, is the director of the Center for Islamic Pluralism, a Sufist group based in Washington DC. Schwartz is a true Muslim moderate, who speaks out against the radical elements within Islam.
In 2007, he wrote the below article for Family Security Matters lamenting the fact that since 9-11 our government has embraced Muslim figures who are not truly moderate. As one examples, he mentions Muzammil Siddiqi of Orange County, the past president of the Islamic Society of North America.

Pehaps, somebody should forward a copy of this article to Rusty Kennedy, the CEO of the Orange County Human Relations Commission. On May 5, Kennedy is going to bestow the coveted "Rusty Award" to Siddiqi for being a nice moderate community leader or something like that.
Better get some Brasso, Rusty and start shining that baby up.
Maybe I should convert to the Republican Party, declare myself the only true Republican, and denounce all other shades of opinion as phony and not true Republicanism.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, if Schwartz is correct, then it seems that Islam is NOT the inherently violent and intolerant religion certain detractors have portrayed it as. Or, if it really is, then Schwartz is not a true Muslim.
Any way you cut it, Schwartz sounds like an irrelevant wannabe.
