Portrait of a Mob

"Hello! Campus Police? There's gonna be a riot."

As reported, last Wednesday at UC-Irvine, Campus Police and Irvine PD turned out in force after someone tipped them off that a "mob" was coming to disrupt the Muslim Student Union's noon event against Israel.

Well, folks, Fousesquawk has obtained an exclusive photo of the "mob" that showed up to "cause trouble". Here it is.

Mob

That's it. That's the mob. (I've blotted out the faces of the two "ringleaders".) About 30 people who walked around in a circle, said nothing, and behaved themselves.

Someone, whoever it was, that called in this false alarm to the Campus Police, is going to look very foolish within the community. Stay tuned.

  1. Looks like the photos of the MSU events, except for the Israeli flags of course.

per se -- what a word verification

  2. They do not care if they look foolish. They lied on purpose. They wanted to intimidate the Jewish counter protest.

  3. Donna,

Do not automatically assume that the tipster was from the MSU.

  4. There were multiple people (students, community members, faculty, the MSU, etc.) who informed the university that there might be an increase of attendence during the MSU week. Rabbi Fisher sent out an email that called on community members to show up at UCI. That emailed got forwarded around. Doesn't really sound like a big secret.

  5. Rabbi Fischer did not call upon people to come and cause a disruption, did he? Last year 2-300people showed up on one day. Nobody called the police and told them to expect a disturbance. This seems like a deliberate effort to discredit the people in the community who came out.
