The Goldstone Statement and Norman Finkelstein

(Hat tip to OC Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism)

"It is the year 2025. Norman Finkelstein, the Independent Scholar with a PhD from Princeton, now retired, sits alone in his Brooklyn apartment, surrounded by his numerous academic awards, and ponders the meaning of it all."

I knew that name Goldstone rang a bell when I got this news article by the Jerusalem Post.

That's right! Richard Goldstone was the guy cited by that "Great Independent Scholar with a PhD from Princeton" Norman Finkelstein. (Independent because no university will hire him because he is a crackpot who makes up his own "scholarship".)

Last May, Finkelstein spoke at UC-Irvine during Israel Apartheid Week and made a total boob out of himself as the audience took turns yawning and laughing derisively at his monotone. When I asked him to sign a letter from several dozen UCI Jewish professors asking for a halt to anti-Semitic hate speech at the Israel Apartheid weeks, Norm launched into a long monologue about Richard Goldstone, the supposedly Zionist Jewish judge from South Africa who led the inquiry into the Gaza fighting and produced the Goldstone Report blasting Israel. In short, boob Finkelstein refused to sign the document citing Goldstone for some unknown reason. Here is the video of that exchange.

I wonder if Finkelstein will continue to refer to Goldstone now.

  1. GoldSTONE? This post is the Rube Goldberg of English discourse. Watch the little ball bounce and wind up and down and around the sentences and then lose sight of it at the very end, scratch your head, and wonder what this is all about anyway.
