The French Win a War!

For the first time since Napoleon, the French have won a war. This time against their former colony, the Ivory Coast (That's Cote d'Ivoire for all you UC Santa Cruz Communtiy Studies majors. Sorry I don't have the diacritical mark over the o.)

After bombing Laurent Gbagbo's house from the air, UN/French soldiers stormed the house, knocked down the "barricaded" bunker (no pun intended) and dragged the reluctant president/ex-president into custody and an uncertain future.

Well, maybe not so uncertain.

  1. Also noteworthy, Gary Fouse applauds the victory of a French-aided, predominantly Muslim, military force in an African nation wracked by civil war over the past ten years or so.

    Pulling tongue out of cheek, Gbagbo did lose an election fair and square, and the guy who won appears to be a decent prospect.

  2. Had to be the "Legion" involved in this. A Legion made of up American and Brit adventurers and Eastern European rogues.
    Always kind of found the Legion interesting.
