Far-Left=Pro-Palestinian/Anti-Israel

Hat tip to Mere Rhetoric

Mere Rhetoric has picked up on a photo in a recent London protest against budget-cuts that is quite illustrative.

What this illustrates is the marriage of the far-left with the pro-Palestinian cause. These Palestinian flags have a curious habit of showing up in far-left and anarchist gatherings, don't they?

"Uhhhh.....yeaaaah."

  1. Wrong again. The presence of a Palestinian flag at a protest over budget cuts reflects the infantile philosophy "United We March." There is no ideology to it. The notion is that if enough causes all join together the march will have greater numbers. It overlooks the fact that in the resulting cacaphony, no single cause will get significant attention.

In the real world, there are no two causes that all the same people agree on. That's what makes voting between two candidates so difficult. No candidate perfectly matches the preference of any given voter.

  2. "In the real world..."

You mean in YOUR real world.

  3. No Gary, I mean the world we live in. Things may be different in LA LA land, and its even more removed-from-reality suburbs, Orange County, which may be a fantasy suburb taken out of a Hollywood movie. Do you really exist out there?

At least when I say "wrong again" I amplify on what I mean.

  4. Siarlys,

OC is not what it used to be or what TV makes it out to be. It is a very diverse community now.

  5. Mr. Fouse what do you then make of Israeli flags showing up in protests/marches by the far right???

Israeli flags are present at almost all rally's by the fascist English Defence League as well as those of the neo-Nazi Sweden Democrats.

Infact there were quite a few Israeli flags present at both the protest in Temecula against the mosque, as well as in Yorba Linda during the recent anti-Muslim demonstration.

Folks in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

  6. The reason is very simple, Anonymous. We support Israel and oppose the terrorists.

Anything else I can help you with?

  7. I'm sure Gary Fouse didn't mean to align himself with neo-Nazis when he used the first person plural, but it was an unfortunate choice of words.

The presence of the Palestinian flag at a British march against budget cuts could also be compared to the presence of rude, loud-mouthed racists one hundred yards away from a better-mannered protest against the speakers at a fundraiser in Yorba Linda. It is almost impossible to control who shows up in your vicinity during a public event.

Or, it could have been waved by a British student born in Britain to Palestinian parents who, like millions of Irish Americans, supports the aspirations of his distant cousins for freedom and independence, without endorsing terrorism or jihad.

    Ya nevah know.

  8. Siarlys,

Well, thanks for catching that since I am neither a member of the EDL or that Swedish bunch he mentioned. I do, however, support any European group which is trying to stand up and stop the hostile takeover of the Islamist radicals. Where I would draw the line is if they engage in racist rhetoric or violence.

  9. I don't agree that there IS a "hostile takeover" worthy of the name, whatever dreams a few Muslim fanatics may hold in their pointed little heads. I agree that when ANY religious body seeks exemption from common civil law, or a special place in the state apparatus, it should be flatly refused. Right now, such demands emerge more from the Muslim peripheries than any other.
