Anti-Semitic? You be the judge
Hat tip to Orange County Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism
The Anti-Defamation League has compiled a series of political cartoons that have appeared recently in the Arab media in response to Richard Goldstone's disavowal of his controversial Goldstone Report, which has heavily criticized Israel for the fighting in Gaza.

Keep in mind that these cartoons are not from fringe publications or press organs of Hamas or Hizbollah. They are from mainstream Arab publications. Nor are they something new. These cartoons have been appearing for years in the Arab world.
I will say one thing in defense of those who drew and published these cartoons. They did not originate them. They take their inspiration from Julius Streicher, the infamous Nazi war criminal, who was Gauleiter of Franconia during the Third Reich and publisher of the infamous Nuremberg-based Nazi weekly, Der Stuermer, which was devoted to anti-Semitic rhetoric and cartoons.

Typical Stuermer cartoon
Nor are these images limited to overseas. Below is a caricature of Ariel Sharon, which appeared on the so-called Mock Israeli Wall a couple of years back during the Muslim Student Union-sponsored Israel Apartheid Week at UCI. It was personally seen by me and removed by the MSU during the week after complaints were made about its anti-Semitic nature.
Hate? That is hate.

What's this? I thought only a few deranged lunatics highjacked the Religion of Peace. Now you say it is mainstream publications? From state controlled presses? Wow! What about the Muslim guy I know who seems to be a nice guy? Doesn't this personal experience offset the ton of evidence like this about the Islamists?

Unfortunately, Sabra and Shatilla are real history. Israel hasn't qualified as a plucky underdog since 1973. Contrary to the shabby rhetoric of Israel's most devoted adherents, a reasonable settlement with the remaining Palestinian Arab population does NOT require that Israel disarm -- just that it do the right thing while remaining under arms. Then, these cartoons will lose what sting they may have. Aryan nations publishes cartoons too -- do we worry about them?
ReplyDeleteSabra and Shatilla were committed by Falangists. The charge against Israel was that they turned a blind eye and allowed them to conduct the murders at sites then under Israeli military control in Lebanon.
ReplyDeleteN'est pas?
Wake up people. The terrorist cell directly below our Irvine apartment (who claim to be campus ministry) have been using portable microwave equipment. Aimed directly into our bedroom the lethal laser gun, "People Cooker" has burned skin and deep tissue. The directed energy burns deep into the targeted areas resulting in extreme heat and burns. Crimes by directed energy weapon are done without evidence. We are moving out of county actually today, but not before a visit to Irvine P.D. for a report of the facts.
ReplyDeleteTotal FRONT: Christian ministry and lack of evidence may no longer sustain your terrorist organization: BUSTED!
Precisely. That's called being an accomplice before the fact. In a simple criminal prosecution, you can be executed for it. That sort of law doesn't apply in war time, but being complicit in the slaughter of civilians is not protected by the laws of war.
ReplyDeleteDuring the brief period when Ronald Reagan sent American marines into Lebanon, there was an Israeli tank unit that wanted to move into an area where they were not permitted by the terms of the attempt at cease fire then in effect. I will remain forever proud of the young marine from Menasha, WI, who refused to get out of the way of an Israeli tank, and made it turn back.
Unlike the anonymous Chinese protester captured on film standing in front of a PLA tank in Tein An Menh Square, this marine had a pistol. But it wasn't his firepower that turned the tank around. For one day, the U.S. marines were heroes in the Arab refugee camps -- and without even suggesting that Israel should be wiped off the map. Hezb-i-ul-Lah, of course, did not approve. Friends of Israel might pause to consider why the Shia theocrats feel threatened when Americans insist that Israel keep its commitments. If the mullahs lose their popular support, they will go back to being a minor nuisance. They NEED to be able to tell their flock that America will stand by Israel even when it is patently wrong.
Note: due to chronological distortion between what is visible when I post, and what is visible after Gary's review, I must note that I was replying "precisely" to Gary, not to Miggie or Sally. I must say that Sally is offering a half-way decent parody, if parody it is, but that is hard to tell.
