Dr Anis Shorrosh on Islam and the West

Dr Anis Shorrosh is a Palestinian Christian evangelic who has written on the threat of radical Islam. He is the author of  "Islam: Threat or Challenge", "Islam Revealed", and other works. He is noted for his debates with Islamic scholar Ahmed Deedat (deceased). Dr Shorrosh has listed 20 strategies by which Islamists seek to spread Islam throughout the West. The link is below, and they are well worth reading. Though some of them have been dismissed as conspiracy theories by his Muslim critics, I think you will find many of them eerily familiar. Strategy number one hits the nail right on the head.

1. Terminate America’s freedom of speech by replacing it with hate crime bills state-wide and nation-wide.

We already see that in action in many European countries, where individuals have been prosecuted for criticizing the influence of radical Islam in their own nations. Can you say Geert Wilders and Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff? The 57-member Organization of the Islamic Conference has been lobbying the UN to pass a "Defamation of Religion" law aimed at forcing UN member nations to prosecute those who criticize Islam. In the US, organizations like CAIR are trying to beat down those who speak out against Islamic radicals in the US by labeling them "Islamophobes" or racists. The current Justice Department under Eric Holder is showing signs of being willing to actually prosecute people for speaking out.

In addition, point number three mentions discourse in the universities and colleges. It is understated, especially when you consider the Israel-Palestinian conflict, which is played out regularly on university campuses, thanks to the Muslim Student Associations and their invited speakers. In addition, Saudi oil money is funding the establishment of Middle Eastern Studies departments on many campuses. They are staffed with anti-Israeli activists who do little more than spread indoctrination in the name of education.

Do I think all Muslims in the West have these ideas in their minds? No, but I do feel that those we would term "Islamists" do have such visions.

The words of Dr Shorrosh should be a wake up call to those of us in the West. What is sad is that we still need a wake up call at all.

  1. We have an unpleasant contradiction here Gary. YOU want "hate crime" legislation concerning speech that makes Jewish students feel "uncomfortable."

I agree that "hate crime" and "hate speech" laws are a greater threat to freedom than they are a shield for individual rights.

Given that our Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that the First Amendment protects the right of Westboro Baptist Church to carry signs saying "Thank God for dead soldiers" on the day of the funeral for a veteran who died in the line of duty (as long as they assemble a decent distance from the funeral service itself), Dr. Shorrosh has little to worry about in the USA. The ruling precludes even a civil suit for intentional infliction of emotional distress... the Muslim advocates of hate speech laws can wail all they want. It ain't happening here.

  2. I never called for hate speech or hate crime legislation for anything except sunstantive criminal acts like assault or vandalism. Hate speech is free speech in most instances, but it can be condemned by responsible people like university administrators.

As to what makes Jewish students "uncomfortable" it is not a matter of arresting anyone, just good administrators looking out for all their students.

  3. I thought we had agreed that criminal assault should be prosecuted as criminal assault, and that "hate crime" enhancements making distinctions among various motives for criminal assault are not helpful.
