Hat tip to Pro Israel Bay Bloggers
The traveling roadshow called "Never again for anyone", which made headlines recently at Rutgers University, was in Oakland last week at a Christian church no less.

Here is the ad for the event:

Hosted by the International Socialist Organization (Bay area)
(For all you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies majors-those are what we used to call "Commies".)
Save your cards and letters.
So let me make sure I have this right. The featured speaker was a Holocaust survivor named Hajo Meyer, who not only hates Israel, but spits on the idea of a Jewish civilization? He is endorsed by David Duke!!?? If he is Jewish (I am assuming that), why does he hate his own people so much? The appearance at DePaul on February 4 is quite troubling. Note the usual suspects; Hatem Bazian, professor at UC Berzerkley and the Students for Justice in Palestine. (Their idea of justice in Palestine is the elimination of the Jewish state.)
Make no mistake; these organizations and their events are nothing less than stoking hatred in the US against Israel. The side effect is a rise in anti-Semitism. And where is the focal point? Mostly in the universities-thanks to "professors" like Hatem Bazian.
And now even in churches. What in the world is this pastor doing engaging himself in international politics on an issue that is costing lives virtually everyday. My old man (may he rest in peace) had a phrase for so-called Christians like this Oakland pastor.
"He doesn't know whether Jesus was hung or shot in a pool hall."
(Please forgive me.)
Gary, if you don't know the difference between a socialist and a communist, you are unfit to comment on either.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant response to Siarlys, Gary. North Korea is the People's Democratic Republic of North Korea. I guess that means that they run under the same sort of system that we do since we have a republic and democracy.
ReplyDeleteSocialism and communism are not the same thing.
Lance,
ReplyDeleteI am very well aware of the differences betrween socialism and communism. I have been in several communist countries in my life. I was merely pointing out the fact that in history, many communist entities have named themselves socialist. The USSR was the classic example.
Lance got you cold Gary. And I suppose every "People's Republic" is modeled after the American constitutional model? After all, our Constitution begins "We the People of the United States..."
ReplyDeleteLet me answer the unstated question. Socialism is a broad category, referring to advocacy that control of major productive wealth should be removed from private ownership, and operated in some manner (often by the state, but not always) for the benefit of the general community, particularly those who work for a living. (Capitalists were pilloried as loafers long before anyone heard of welfare recipients).
Communism is a specific strategy for revolution, which relies on a tightly organized and disciplined cadre (the term cadre is also used by the United States Marine Corps, so I guess that is a communist front group).
Communism has been most rationally advocated as a method by pointing to the vast resources of the secret security apparatus in most capitalist nations, as well as outright despotisms. Communism failed because somehow the tightly organized, highly disciplined organization has no effective transition to rule by the liberated people -- those who feel they made all the sacrifices acquire a feeling that after the revolution, they are entitled to all the rewards.
By the way Gary, does your father believe Jesus was hung? Or that he was shot in a pool hall?
ReplyDeleteSiarlys,
ReplyDeleteMy father doesn't believe either. He has been dead for 35 years.
Him and Mao Zedong. Isn't history odd?
