A Real Million Man March in Karachi

Blaspheme support2
(Atlas Shrugs)

On Sunday, a protest march was held in Karachi, Pakistan. What were they protesting? If you guessed they were protesting the murder of a Pakistani state governor, who was assassinated in recent days because he took a public stand opposing blasphemy laws in that country and defended a Christian woman who was facing the death sentence for blasphemy.........

you would be dead wrong.

Instead this massive crowd was marching in defense of Pakistan's blasphemy law that forbids any criticism of Islam.

Also this week, the planned court appearnce of the accused killer in Islamabad degenerated into chaos as  a crowd showered him with rose petals as he was taken in and out of court. Siasat (Pakistan) has the below report.

But there is good news. It has just been announced that the US is increasing aid to Pakistan.
They will get $3 billion from Uncle Sam this year.

  4. No, its not Welsh. I'm one eighth Welsh on one side and something less on another side. This is what comes of all the presidents that Henry Kissinger worked for, as well as the early Reagan administration, backing one Zia ul-Haq, our man in Karachi, while he transformed a nation Muslim by cultural identity into a quasi-theocracy.

As for U.S. funding, yeah, it goes on for the same reason it went on under George W. Bush. The country is sort of pivotal to our military efforts in the region, and we can let go only if we want to turn Afghanistan back over the the Taliban and let al Qaeda have the Pakistani nuclear arsenal.

Chickens coming home to roost, but we have a wolf by the ears and can't let go.

  5. Siarlys,

I don't disagree with you. We need Pakistan to do the right thing. Just that photo I posted leads me to believe that this country is going to be a lost cause.

  6. Probably so. But if Barack Obama cuts our losses, you KNOW what the Republicans will say... Besides, we REALLY don't have a good option to just cut loose.
