More Nonsense From Noam Chomsky

Hat tip to Daily Caller

When I was studying linguistics, I was often assigned to read the works of Noam Chomsky, who is reputed to be America's preeminent linguist. He's the guy who came up with the theory of Universal Grammar, which I won't bore you with  here. Chomsky may be a great linguist and all that, but when it comes to anything else in life, this professor at M.I.T. is a blooming idiot. Now this "genius" is predicting the end of the human species because of the US, the election of the Republicans and their denial of Global Warming.

Of course, we all know that Chomsky is a huge critic of Israel, a subject he is well-qualified to speak about because of his knowledge of Universal Grammar. He is also a huge critic of this country as well. Being a far-lefty, that is a prerequisite, of course. Besides, we already know that professors can be teaching on any subject and still speak with authority when it comes to bashing Israel and the US. This is the same guy who sends his best wishes to the Viva Palestina conveys as they wind their way to Gaza led by that indefatigable clown George Galloway.

So the Great Linguist has spoken. Make out your wills and prepare yourselves. The End is near.

  1. He's right. Global warming deniers are a danger when they're placed in positions of power.

  2. The problem with the Global Warming debate is that getting close to the truth requires a good deal of nuance -- a word John Kerry was ridiculed for using. John Kerry deserves a good deal of ridicule, but that is not one of the reasons why.

Take the floods this year in Australia, Pakistan and South America. They are unusually severe, and that is an understatement. There is good science linking them to weather patterns that are very likely related to increased global temperature. But, they probably won't happen every year. Next year may be a bumper crop with gentle rains. After that there may be two years of severe drought -- also related to increased global temperature. Then even worse torrential rains than we've had this year.

After a century or so, we may indeed find that a large portion of humanity has been wiped out, the technology, trade and communications we used to have hopelessly disrupted, our standard of living greatly reduced... and it will be too late to act.

We're not going to be so thoroughly extinct as Noam seems to be saying -- that kind of dramatic effect isn't helpful. But, we may be cursing the names of Gary Fouse and Tom Coburn and James Imhofer, those of us who remain alive that is.

By the way, does anyone remember the National Lampoon parody of DUNE? The interstellar trading organization was named NOAMCHOMSKY. A nice touch. I've never had much use for this guy.

Hot Earthers. You heard it here first. All rights reserved.

  4. I have a new one for you. It's a bit long, but maybe I can come up with an acronym or shorthand for it:

"Guy Who Can't Even Define Global Warming But Knows It's A Hoax."

    GWCEDGWBKIAH?

  5. I worked with Chomsky, over 35 years ago on a "semantics" project. He was absolutely brilliant in this work. But now, he has gone off the cliff with his views. He sounds like a loon.
As far as the global warming issue, take the time to see and hear this Youtube video. I explains it all.

  6. Yeah, all scientific questions can be resolved by watching the right UTube video. It is entirely possible for a pinhead to be right twice out of every 14,400 things they utter.
