French Demonstration in Support of Coptic Christians in Egypt

Hat tip to DRZZ

French writer Guy Milliere is posting a call for French people to attend a demonstration on January 7th to support the Coptic Christians of Egypt in the wake of the New Years mass bombing that killed 21 persons in Alexandria, Egypt. (The below site is in French.)

"Nous vous invitons à participer au rassemblement qui aura lieu de 15 à 18h sur le Parvis Notre-Dame, pour soutenir les coptes mais aussi pour défendre la liberté religieuse de ceux qui ne sont pas musulmans, mise à mal, de plus en plus, partout dans le monde."

"We invite you to participate in the gathering that will take place from 3-6 pm on the Notre Dame Square to support the Copts, but also to defend religious liberty of those who are not Muslims, increasingly in trouble throughout the world."

  1. Ah yes, because the French are such staunch defenders of freedom of religion! That's a good one!

Next you're gonna tell me that these same people were in the streets protesting over the ban on wearing the hijab (and other religious symbols) in public buildings. Or the more recent burqa law. Since they're such strong believers in religious freedom and all!

    Hilarious.

  2. Anonymous,

Glad you are enjoying a good laugh. I poke a lot of fun at the French, but what's wrong in pointing out when they do something good?
