Channuka Celebrated in Erlangen

While perusing my link to the Erlanger Nachrichten newspaper today, I came upon this piece reporting last night's city celebration of Channuka in Erlangen, Germany. About 40 political and religious leaders participated.

During the Holocaust, Erlangen's remaining Jewish population, which had dwindled to about 20 persons, was rounded up and sent east to Auschwitz, Theriesienstadt and Riga. Only a handful survived.

Today, Erlangen's Jewish population consists almost entirely of Russian emigrees, who were resettled in that town.
