What is DOJ Doing About Viva Palestina and Their Tax-Deductible Front?

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA)  has come out with an important piece which indicates that Viva Palestina (George Galloway's Hamas "charity") is using a US organization with 501 c 3 status to collect funds. The article prominently mentions the University of California at Irvine, one place where money was collected in 2009.

So the question is still...

What the Hell is Eric Holder's Justice Department doing about this?

"It's under investigation, right boys?"

"Riiiight."

  1. Gary,

In the words of Barack Obama, here is the answer to your question:

    From Audacity of Hope:
"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

  2. We need to abolish tax deductible status, period. It is unavoidably easy for any little group with a tax exemption to "lend" their status to any other little group that has none. Stopping it is like shovelling flies. Let donors donate because they believe in the cause, even though it costs them. Let there be no selective taxpayer subsidy of anything.

Squid: Chapter and page number please, and if possible, edition. The word "muslim" does not appear in the index, and there are 364 pages to search through. Naturally, I want to confirm the citation in my own copy, and examine the context in which it appears, if it does.

  3. Siarylys,

    Here is the complete quote:

"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

  4. The complete quote definitely gives a different impression than the snippet you provided, Squid.

  5. Now I have read it all. How Squid can twist something to make it fit his sick mind is beyond my comprehension.

  6. Thank you, Miggie. Now that I see what he was talking about (your original short quote was not accurate), I fully agree with what he said.

When the first notes of ethnic anti-Muslim sentiment popped up in 2001, scattered and isolated though those voices were, I immediately turned to Woody Guthrie's account of being in a bar with some sailors reporting for duty in a few hours, the day of the Pearl Harbor bombing, or perhaps the next day. Some fat drunken lout decided his contribution to the war effort would be to trash the grocery store next door, owned by a Japanese-American couple. The sailors guarded the store all night.

That is the same spirit as the paragraph you have now quoted in full.

  7. Sorry, that should have been Squid. Miggie has his own crosses to bear.
