Random Shots in the Dark (29)

Like the evil queen/witch in "Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs", some of those inner-circle Republicans who have gone down to defeat in the primaries are clinging to the cliff by their fingernails as they try to stay alive. First, "Snarlin" Arlen Specter switches parties when he knew he had lost "The Republican vote" in PA. We all know where that got him. Then Charlie Christ became an independent when he saw that Marco Rubio was running circles around him in the Florida polls. Now Lisa Murkowski says she will run as a "write-in" candidate in Alaska. Amazing how these old dinosaurs try to cling to power, ain't it?

And speaking of evil queens, the evil former president, Jimmy Carter, is trying to cling to his "legacy" by bad-mouthing Ted Kennedy over health care legislation.

"It was my health care plan, mine."

I see where Obama has found another activist from Harvard to stick into the government. This time it is Elizabeth Warren, who by-passing confirmation, will head up the newly-created.......

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Just what this country needs- a new government agency in Washington. I wonder how many new jobs that will create. Best I can figure, these bureaucrats will "empower" people (Warren's words)to understand the contracts they are signing, you know, mortgages, credit card contracts and all that. This is because the American people are too stupid to know what they are signing, get it?

"Uhhh...yeaaaah."

"Never again will folks be confused or misled by the pages of barely understandable fine print that you find in agreements for credit cards or mortgages or student loans," Obama said.

It looks like she will be working under Tim Geithner (probably helping him figure out the fine print in Turbo Tax).

Speaking of creating jobs, here's some figures that will restore your faith in government: The City of Los Angeles has reported that they got $110 million in stimulous finds designed to create or save jobs (whatever that means). Total number of jobs created or saved (whatever that means)?

Fifty-five (55). Count 'em. I know what that means. Waste of tax-payer funds.

If you think this gal, Christine O'Donnell, is an extremist, wait till you see her Democrat Senate opponent Chris Coons. This guy makes Karl Marx look like Karl Rove.

"I don't think that's funny."

He (Coons)will be running on his record as a county commissioner in Delaware of tax increases and huge deficits (always a winning formula). Furthermore, Harry Reid (whose endorsement everybody wants...)

...has come out and said that Coons is "his pet".

To which Coons responded,

"I'm not anybody's pet, and .....

"I don't think that's funny. Harry's my pet."

And finally, we end in Paris, still recovering after the latest riots. It has been reported that Michelle Obama told Carla Bruni (wife of Nicholas Sarkozy) that life as first lady was just plain Hell. Everybody's denying it, but it has gotten everyone in Gay Paree all stirred up. And I mean everybody.

"Now that's funny."

(It's the closest thing I could find to the old commie laughing.)

  1. Yikes! You right. I must change that to Marx look like Rove.

  2. We need this new consumer protection agency like we need police on the beat. Who needs government anyway?

Speaking of Marx, did you have Chico Marx write that response?

    Ha!

  4. Actually, I have a complete photo of the Marx brothers in my arsenal, but haven't used them yet since they might have been misinterpreted,

  5. Siarlys,

Police on the beat-yes, that is one of the primary responsibilities of government along with such things as controlling borders and protecting us from foreign threats. Creating agencies to make sure we know what we are reading is not.

  6. Gary, one of my unpaid vocations is helping friends and acquaintances write letters to collection agencies responding to bogus billing and mendacious threats that "you'll never get another job when we send this to the credit reporting agencies." The consumer protection laws are to prevent self-appointed criminal syndicates masquerading as legitimate businesses running rackets to squeeze innocent citizens who don't happen to have my penchant for reading fine print that no honest man or woman would have written in the first place.

As we have seen in the past few years, banks also need to be policed, or they get away with something less than murder but more damaging to the community than embezzlement.
