The New Black Panther Party/DOJ Scandal Gets Worse

Eric Holder

Thank God for Judicial Watch and the Freedom of Information Law. It now appears that the DOJ is involved in a scandal that goes right to the top. Pajamas Media has the story.

Add to that the revelations that DOJ's Thomas Perreli was meeting with White House Counsel Cassandra Butts the same time the orders were given to drop the case, and the scandal goes even higher than the Justice Department.

When I was in the Department of Justice (DEA), Freedom of Information requests were a common irritant-often filed by convicted dopers trying to get their cases reversed or by certain organizations like the Church of Scientology out to prove that every government agency was out to get them. Yet, this case proves the value of the FOIA.

Our Justice Department has been corrupted by Eric Holder and his appointed deputies. Now they try to lay the blame for their own malfeasance on career officials. It is shameful. Eric Holder needs to be removed.

Late update via Hot Air/Pajamas Media:

DOJ career lawyer Christopher Coates has sent a letter to the Civil Rights Commission offering to testify this Friday regarding this scandal. See the below link:

  1. Scandal? What scandal? It was a perfectly legitimate decision. We've hashed this out at length on your previous posts.

I never heard anybody deny that a decision to prosecute or not prosecute is, ultimately, the responsibility of the Attorney General, and the buck does stop, for the entire executive branch, on the president's desk.

  2. Siarlys,

Yes, we have. It was just a third-rate burglary, to coin a phrase, and the cover-up, as usual, is proving worse than the crime.

According to DOJ, it wasn't Obama or Holder, it was the career officials at DOJ.

  3. Eric Holder should have been thrown out of his position as Director of the DOJ, yesterday. He is one of the worst corruptocrates in the Obama administration. His handling of the New Black Panther group is an example of misjustice. Truly, this is the Department of "Just Us". Hopefully, the material gathered by Judicial Watch, under the FOIA will shed light on the transgessions of Obama's DOJ. Law makers must pave the way for true justice, so that Eric Holder will be thrown under the bus and better yet, arrested.

  4. The only thing that worries me is, why aren't they standing up and proudly taking credit for a wise decision about prudent allocation of expensive government resources?

Once again, Democrats are spineless wimps, when standing up firmly for what they believe could be winning elections. Why do they suddenly wonder if they've done something wrong when a mindless motormouth cries "scandal"?

(The mindless motormouth would be the original complainant - why an intelligent conservative like you picked up on it is a secondary question.)
