Cubs Lose Again 11-4
Back in the so-called Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field, the Cubs finished off a three-game series being swept by the Cincinnati Reds, this time 11-4.
"Ah wunnerful ah wunnerful ah"
Yes, a wunnerful time was had by all. Reds baserunners raced around the bases like the proverbial merry-go-round as Cubs fielders dropped fly balls, lost other fly balls in the sun and made wild throws. Reds first baseman Joey Votto continued his historic streak of homering in every game he has ever played at Wrigley Field (or so it seems).
Now that manager Lou Piniella has announced his retirement, the Cubs are busy preparing to bring on a new manager next year.
"Do not fear, my son. Alfonso Soriano and Big Z will be with you."
You're beginning to sound like an old Brooklyn Dodgers fan.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta laugh to keep from crying.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the German word for "finding pleasure in someone else's misfortune"?
ReplyDeleteHave you always had it and is only with the Cubs?
The word is schadenfreude, and that is not my problem. I have been a die hard Cub fan since 63, and have gone through all the heartbreaks. This is just my perverse form of therapy-laughing instead of crying.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the word then for "finding pleasure in your own misfortune". Maso...something?
ReplyDeleteWhips and Chains, Miggie-whips and chains
ReplyDeleteDarn, no World Series for us this year.
