What we know.......
We now know that the "person of interest" in the Times Square bombing is a naturalized Pakistani-American who had traveled to Pakistan in recent months.
White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, pictured below...
....apparently knows that it was a terrorist attack.
"I think anybody that has the type of material that they had in a car in Times Square, I would say that that was intended to terrorize. Absolutely," ....."And I would say that whoever did that would be categorized as a terrorist. Yes."
Thank you, Mr Gibbs.
We know that New York Governor, the hapless David Paterson (who is blind)
has called it an "act of terrorism".
But not everybody knows at this point that it was an act of terrorism.
Attorney General Eric Holder (who is probably already drafting pardon papers) on Monday said it was too early to officially designate the incident as terrorism.
Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano (who is also blind) still has no clue.
"It certainly is something that I would not rule out," she told Fox News on Monday morning. (That's today.)
"Can't rule anything out, by Jove."
I have an idea; let's take any NYPD cop and make him or her the director of Homeland Security.

ReplyDeleteWe tried that. He withdrew from consideration in embarrassment, and was indicted shortly thereafter.
Incidentally, I'm pleased when public officials have the self-control to refuse to throw ill-thought bait to the piranas of the press corps, based on incomplete data. The correct response is "When we have sufficient confirmed information to provide an informed report, you will be the second to know." Instant sound bytes are neither grist for the mill of informed citizenship, nor good public policy. You ought to know that, having worked for the DEA.
Understood, but one thing was clear. It was an act of terrorism.
