Hat tip to Pajamas Media, News Real Blog and Aaron Elias
I am linking a petition by David Horowitz's Newsrealblog calling for a condemnation of anti-Semitism on the UC San Diego campus. I have added my name, and I hope you will also.

What kind of losers repeatedly go into a bathroom to write graffiti of any sort?
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty powerful letter.
"The Muslim Students Association of UCSD would like to clearly define its stance on the issue of which organizations and groups it condemns and condones, to ensure that no one else attempts to define our stance for us. The MSA at UCSD condemns all groups or organizations, whether state or non-state actors, who target civilians or target a civilian population to impose collective punishment."
ReplyDeleteHow is this consistent with a divestment plan?
What it is is double talk.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I forgot to include the context with the last post.
ReplyDeleteThere is a link from your link to a MSA statement. The MSA at UCSD is trying to distance themselves from genocide gal.

The statement reads:
The Muslim Students Association of UCSD would like to clearly define its stance on the issue of which organizations and groups it condemns and condones, to ensure that no one else attempts to define our stance for us. The MSA at UCSD condemns all groups or organizations, whether state or non-state actors, who target civilians or target a civilian population to impose collective punishment."
Who do they think will be harmed by divestment? Do they think the military will be the first to feel any of its effects?
Double talk? How the heck is it double talk? It seems pretty clear to me.
ReplyDeleteLance,
ReplyDeleteI've been reading through this stuff a long time. It's double talk.
Signed! I'm # 557.
ReplyDeleteThat's not much of an answer. Define what you mean by double talk and explain how it fits. To me, double talk is when you manage to say something and undercut, or even contradict, the point at the same time. You must be using a different definition.
ReplyDeleteLance,
ReplyDeletePerhaps we have a different definition of double talk-perhaps, there are wide interpretations of double talk.
The Muslim Student Associations in America will always deny they are anti-Jewish. Yet, they bring in speakers who have shown themselves over the years to be anti-Jewish. Hamas, which the MSUs support (they will also deny that or dance around it), has a charter that is rife with anti-jewish language.
I am not saying that all Muslims or members of MSAs are anti-Jewish, but one of the main focal points of our opposition to these msu-sponsored Israel Apartheid weeks is the anti-Semitic aspect.
What I am trying to say is that when these speakers and organizations deny they are anti-Jewish, I don't accept it. I have been studying the semantic tricks they use for years now. It is way too complicated to explain here, but the more you look into it, the more you find the hatred of the Jews.
Okay, I think I get you. I was referring to the statement itself. On its own, it's pretty plain. You're taking it into context of other things that were said.
ReplyDeleteLance,
ReplyDeleteYou gotta read between the lines.
Take Gary's word for it Lance...
ReplyDelete...he's an expert. He knows what the words REALLY mean!
