On Monday, Caroline Kennedy will present JFK Profiles in Courage Awards to 4 California politicians. Can you guess what for? For sticking Californians with the largest tax increase in our state's history last year!
Dave Cogdill, Mike Villines, Darrell Steinberg, and Karen Bass, all from the California State Legislature, will be honored Monday for having the courage to....raise our taxes!
Bass and Steinberg, who were the two biggest figures in the legislature, sort of like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, are big tax and spend Democrats. Nothing surprising here. But Cogdill and Villines are Republicans who had said all along they were against tax raises-until they were for them.
Profiles in Courage, folks-for voting to raise taxes.
Give 'em a hand.
Since George W. Bush mortgaged out country to the National Bank of China, wanting to have his war and his tax cuts and tell us to go shopping all at the same time... no Republican can retain a shred of credibility talking about "tax and spend" Democrats. At least the Democrats have the fiscal prudence to try to PAY for at least SOME of their spending. Let's talk about "borrow and spend" Republicans, who want lower taxes without telling voters exactly which services are going to be cut, or making a case to voters who will actually lose services that they should accept this as necessary.
ReplyDeleteSiarlys,
ReplyDeleteI am opposed to all spending beyond what we have to pay for it. Both are irresponsible. The problem is that govt has gotton so big that it is involved in things they have no business being involved in.
