Rep Hank Johnson Afraid Guam Will Capsize
This is a classic. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), who beat out Cynthia McKinney for Congress, is shown here asking questions about the size of Guam to Adm. Robert Willard, who proposes placing an additional 8,000 Marines and their families in Guam. At the 1:20 mark, Johnson, after ascertaining the size of Guam in terms reminiscent of that Subway "5 dollar foot-long" commercial, then expresses concern that Guam may tip over and capsize!!!!
"Hellllo!"
Patience, Admiral. Patience.
This morning, radio talk show host Mike Gallagher played the tape during an on-air interview with Newt Gingrich, who remarked (I am paraphrasing),
"The Constitution does not require our elected officials to be educated. The Constitution does not require our elected officials to be intelligent. The Constitution only requires our elected officials to be elected. When we elect officials who are neither educated nor intelligent, the consequences are catastrophic."
Indeed!
Wow! I figured that maybe he was just being metaphorical - but he's dead serious and completely literal!
ReplyDeleteAn island capsizing? What the hell?
Unbelievable, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThis was April 1. right?
ReplyDeleteIf it was an April Fool's joke, the guy deserves an Oscar. That would have to be the absolute driest delivery of a joke that I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't April Fools Day-just Fools Day.
