Protests on Gaza side of Egyptian border

Apparently, the Egyptian riot police got in some serious stick time last night in El Arish as they injured 55 members of Viva Palestina and arrested about 7 of George's Finest. According to the latest tweets on the VP website, the convoy is now being allowed to leave the port-very slowly as all passports are being checked- supposedly on its way to Gaza. About 50 some vehicles were directed to enter through Israel. Instead, it appears they will go to Palestinian camps in Lebanon, which I assume means back on the ship for a twenty+ hour return voyage or around through Jordan and Syria-again. Oh, what fun! D'ya think Galloway is already looking forward to that next convoy?

Meanwhile, a Hamas-led protest on the Gaza side of the border got out of hand and someone fired a shot into the Egyptian side killing an Egyptian cop. Who knows where this will lead now? Is it possible Egypt will invade Gaza? How will all those anti-Israel organizations react then? Now we know why Egypt is building its own wall to block off Gaza.

And a final point for the diplomats and government officials: What do you call it when a member of British Parliament is involved in-no, leads a convoy of some 500 people into Egypt that results in all this violence-and now the killing of an Egyptian policeman?

I call it a diplomatic incident. It seems to me that the British Parliament has some important business at hand when Galloway gets back home. For that matter too, US authorities have some work to do since Galloway has done recruitment and solicitation for this convoy within the US. Were I the Egyptian government, I would be lodging some diplomatic protests.

Another fine mess you've created, Galloway!

  1. I wonder if Galloway's boxing skills came in handy.

  2. Wasn't that video a blast? That's what they call an Egyptian "dust-up". Maybe LAPD Swat can learn some techniques in rock throwing.
