MSNBC-Still Beating Up on Carrie Prejean
Carrie Prejean
Last night my whips and chains were out of order (LOL), and the Cubs aren't playing, so for self-abusement, I turned on MSNBC during the Fox commercial breaks to see what the Dark Side was up to. Keith Olbermann was off last night, probably holding hostages on the top of the NBC tower, so Democratic Party hack Lawrence O'Donnell was sitting in for him.
Of course, it was the usual MSNBC fare-bash Republicans, conservatives, "tea-baggers" (their favorite suggestive term for ordinary Americans who don't like the way the country is going)...and of course, their favorite whipping girl (along with Sarah Palin) former Miss California, Carrie Prejean.
But before I get back to Carrie, I can't help mentioning that only MSNBC can devote a shot to Illinois "Senator" Roland Burris-with a straight face. Of course, Burris is back in the news again not only for bartering off his health care vote, but for his grand debut as a poet. Not only did the show entertain us with Burris' "poem" on the Senate floor, but they did it with a straight face! But then again, this is the channel that unashamedly airs interviews with the likes of Maxine Waters and Barney Frank.
But seriously, how can a major news organization devote so much time to a former beauty pageant contestant who made the "grievous error" of defending traditional marriage? I will agree that Ms Prejean should go away for a few years now that she has made her statements, but how unseemly that she is the target of MSNBC-and in such a lurid manner.
What happened last night was that at the end of the show, O'Donnell played a clip of one of the "best of Keith", a previous segment Olbermann did with that creepy little Jack-in-the-box, Michael Musto.
Michael Musto-And he's mocking Carrie Prejean?
Repeating reel after reel of Carrie's stage walk in the white bikini, Olbermann and Musto engaged in an exchange that can only be described as childish and sophomoric. There were lewd references to body parts and Olbermann ranting on about a sex tape or tapes that she had made several years ago.
Olbermann: "You made a sex tape!!!"
Of course, there was a shot of the "infamous" response she gave to that other creepy Jack-in-the box, Perez Hilton, at the pageant. And there was Musto doing a rehearsed line of lewd jokes about the lady.
Putting politics aside, it was embarrassing. This is what a major news organization (NBC) has sunk to. That segment was the intellectual equivalent to a bunch of horny college guys sitting around watching a porn movie.
MSNBC are the fratboys of the news world.
ReplyDeleteActually there are no real news departments or networks any more. It is Tabloid news with a scattering of some real stories.
That is exactly, what that segment with Olbermann and Musto was last night; two frat boys after too many beers. If Fox had done that bit the NOW gang would have been all over them.
