California Prisoner Release Update
Monday, the California Assembly narrowly passed a slightly scaled down version of the prisoner release plan that would cut the prison population by 27,300. No Republicans voted in favor. As I write, the entire legislature is dealing with producing a final version. The head of the Senate, liberal Darrell Steinberg (D), is still pushing for the creation of a sentencing commission that would greatly reduce sentences over the long run while giving the legislators cover.
Of course, there are all kinds of assurences. Governor Katzenjammer tells us that public safety is the top priority and that releasing 27,000 inmates is about making our streets safer!!!
Well, at least the prisons will be a little safer.
In addition, many of the inmates released will be illegal aliens who will be turned over to ICE and deported. Great-except they will be back the next day and out of prison. We've just discovered some 1800 illegal aliens who were deported and came right back. I say let them serve their sentences, deport them, and when they are found back here, hit 'em with a new felony, but what the hell do I know?
This is what we are facing in a state that is still rocked over three well-publicized murders in the past couple of years committed by criminals who had just been released from jail. In two of those cases, the crimes were committed (allegedly) by illegal alien gang members just released from jail in LA and San Francisco and not turned over to ICE. The third case involved a parolee and career criminal who walked away from a drug treatment center and (allegedly) murdered a 16-year-old girl he had kidnapped. Even the son of the former assembly speaker, a shady guy named Fabian Nunez, is awaiting trial for murder in San Diego.
As if that wasn't enough, the state is now reeling from the case of Phillip Garrido, charged with kidnapping an 11-year-old girl in 1991, holding her captive in his back yard for 18 years and fathering two children with her. This slimeball should never have been loose in the first place having been convicted of kidnapping a woman in 1976, taking her across state lines to Nevada and repeatedly raping her for 8 hours in a facility he had rented and outfitted with lights, porn, and sexual toys. He was convicted and sentenced to 50 years in federal prison-but served only 11, released in time to snatch his latest victim.
Notwithstanding any of that, the Democrats in Sacramento, supported by our boob governor Katzenjammer (who calls himself a Republican), now will cut loose some 27,000 more, who will come into our communities to wreak more havoc. Make no mistake; innocent people will die because of this.
At the same time, California is facing a federal court order to release 40,000 inmates because of overcrowding. Ironically, boob Katzenjammer is supporting a Republican effort to appeal that decision to the US Supreme Court. So our governor is on record supporting the release of the 27,000 to save money, opposing the release of 40,000 to relieve overcrowding, and opposes the building of new prisons-even though voters had previously approved the funding.
Where is the logic-what is the thinking of this governor-this boob-in coming to that conclusion? Is it not apparent even to the densest observer that this guy has no clue?
"Uhh,........yeaaaaah."
YEAH!
No wonder the whole country laughs at California and calls it the "land of fruits and nuts". The state is literally being run by the far-left wing of the Democratic Party and a weight lifter. The legislators will do their damage, be termed out, then be appointed to some do-nothing commission that meets a couple of weeks a year and gets paid six figures. Katzenjammer? He'll go back to doing what he does best.
I suggest some very good firearms. It is too bad that it is illegal to conceal carry there. Would make every criminal think twice about attacking some one.
