Another Horror Story Out of Iran-The World is Silent
Iranian women protesting in Teheran
The Jerusalem Post and Fox News are carrying the story of an account by an anonymous member of Iran's Basij paramilitary forces that have been instrumental in breaking up recent street demonstrations. The story is below.

In the "enlightened" Islamic Republic of Iran, you see, it is illegal to execute a female if she is a virgin. Of course, that is a problem that can be easily overcome. It seems that the night before their executions, the girls are forcibly married to guards-then raped-thus making them eligible to be executed.
This is just another example of the barbarity that has ruled in Iran since the 1979 revolution that brought the barbarian-in-chief Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini to power. He has gone off to his final "reward" of course, but his legacy is alive and well.
*(If you want to keep up with the goings-on in Iran, I recommend Revolutionary Road, a blog from inside the country that I have linked to this blog.)
I wonder if the UN will say anything about this latest atrocity. Probably not because it doesn't fit into their agenda. They are too busy castigating Israel for fighting back against Hamas terrorists. But if you'll excuse me a minute, I'll check out the UN web site......................
I'm back. Not a word on Iran. Lots of stuff about evil Israel and Gaza, but nothing on Iran.
Oh well. I can always count on CAIR to speak out against these types of crimes against humanity. I think I'll go over to their web site and see what they have to say about forcibly marrying virgins, raping them to make them suitable for execution then killing them for who knows what. (I'll be right back.)......................
I'm back. Nothing there.
You see the problem here? We all know that horrible things are going on in Iran. We all know that an evil regime is doing horrific things to its own people. Yet, entities like the UN are reticent to say anything or to get involved. Same for that bastion of righteous strength the European Union. Same for the Obama Administration, which is still "seeking a dialogue" with that odious regime. What kind of a dialogue do you have with a government that does these things to its own people?
Just as bad, Muslim organizations like CAIR say nothing because they are very selective in picking their issues. If a Muslim is subjected to discrimination or a hate crime, real or imagined, CAIR is all over the story. But when it comes to the constant stream of gross violations of human rights committed by Muslims-even against other Muslims- CAIR is strangely silent.
These events in Iran are not strictly a matter of government repression; there is a religious overtone to it. And it's not that CAIR limits its issues to the US; they have spoken out about the murder of a Muslim woman in Germany recently-as did I. The murder was a hate crime and should be condemned by all. But had it been an "honour killing" carried out by a Muslim, they would be silent, or they would talk about the problem of "domestic violence" without delving into the deeper implications (witness the decapitation murder in New York State a few months back of a Muslim woman by her husband).
It is all hypocrisy. The same people who condemn Israel for defending itself and fighting back against those who are trying to destroy it, turn their heads when young girls are sentenced to death, forcibly married, raped, then executed.
You're one to talk about hypocrisy, Gary. You're condemning one set of events while approving of another. So I guess neither you, nor those you are accusing, are being consistent in their condemnations, and are thus guilty of hypocrisy. Your arguments aren't even logically consistent and defeat themselves.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, the UN, Obama, and EU members have all condemned the situation in Iran. I'm not surprised you don't hear about it, since all you read are conservative blogs and Fox News.
Hey Bryan,
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talkin' about? What set of events am I approving of, anyway?
All I read is conservative blogs and Fox News? I just quoted CAIR and the UN web site. Well, not exactly quoted because there was nothing to quote.
Did you actually visit the UN web site? I did. I didn't find any mention of this, but I also didn't see any mention of Israel or Palestine.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a good reason no one has commented on this: it's not a very credible story. Let's see here, it's written by an anonymous author and based on a single anonymous source. Yeah, doesn't exactly fill me with confidence in its veracity.
Bryan,
ReplyDeleteYou do have to click a couple of times. Here it is: Then you can choose whichever article you like.

Okay, but my main point was that this article has ZERO credibility. Why would anyone make a statement on events that there is ZERO evidence of?
ReplyDeleteBryan,
ReplyDeleteI recognize and admit that it is based on an anonymous source, but there are many stories like this over the life of the Iranian regime. Ba'hai women have suffered this fate as well in Iran (a story I am working on). We know about the stonings, we know about the executions of gays. You can say the story may not have enough corroboration, but its a stretch to say its not credible.
You see Gary, organizations like the UN can't just make official statements based on anonymous hearsay without any proof whatsoever to back up the claims, the way a blogger such as yourself can. That is because statements made by those organizations carry much more weight and they have a reputation to worry about. If they start issuing statements willy nilly about whatever the latest rumors are, then they're putting themselves at a serious risk of spreading FALSE information and delegitimizing their future statements that are actually based on EVIDENCE.
ReplyDeleteWhich is exactly what the UN does. Since they were created, most of their resoltuions are against Israel.
ReplyDeleteSo if the UN spoke out about what is going on in Iran as well as stonings and honor killings and shooting women in soccer stadiums (Taliban) they would be engaging in reckless rumor mongering?
The UN knows exactly what goes on in these countries. What happens in Muslim countries-the UN lets lie.
