MSNBC Demotes the Lap Dog and the Attack Dog

Left: Lap dog Chris Matthews
Right: Attack dog Keith Olbermann (rhymes with doberman)

"We're back in the saddle.....er, doghouse again."

It looks like MSNBC has taken enough criticism over their biased coverage, which reached boiling-over point during the Republican Convention. The network has announced that attack-dog Keith Olbermann and Democrat lap dog Chris Matthews, the two blatantly partisan anchors of the convention coverage, are being removed from anchoring the up-coming debates, as well as Election Night coverage.

In making the announcement, MSNBC President, Phil Griffin conceded that the move was due to public complaints over the biased coverage as well as on-air squabbling between Olbermann and Matthews. MSNBC's low ratings during the conventions apparently didn't help either.

With this move (long overdue), MSNBC is starting to recognize they have a problem. The network has become a public joke when it comes to bias, and their ratings have been in the toilet to boot.

So does this mean a sea change for MSNBC? Not hardly. The two sad sacks will remain as commentators, something more fitted to their obvious political bias, and Keith will continue hosting his "Countdown" show stacked with all his best friends and cronies who agree with him. (He also does the NBC Sunday Night Football half-time show giving scores of all the games-virtually the only time you will see him giving straight news vs his opinions.) In addition, Rachel Maddow of Air America has been given her own show to "compliment" Keith's show.

But most importantly as to the above question. Is MSNBC changing direction? Forget it. Guess who is being tabbed to anchor election coverage:

DAVID GREGORY!!!

Helen Thomas can't be far behind.
