"How's your leg feelin' now, Chris?"
Who are the two figures sitting on the dugout steps?
a Two Chicago Cubs waiting to blow another pennant
b Two New York Yankees too old to play anymore
c Two lousy players demoted to the bench for poor performance
d Two lousy MSNBC anchors named Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann demoted for poor performance
e Any of the above
Have you ever seen Ken Burns' baseball documentary? I have recently been watching it for a second time, it's really great. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to an A's game in a week, I am excited. I'm starting to get into baseball.
Our team at UCI has been really good the past couple seasons, too! I only made it to one game before graduating though, sadly.
Bryan,
ReplyDeleteI have seen part of Ken Burns documentary. I like the parts about baseball in the old days, especially the old stadiums, which were treasures that unfortunately don't exist anymore except for Wrigley Field, Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium.
I have not gotten to a UCI game yet. I also played baseball in college and had dreams of playing pro baseball, which of course, never materialized. The farthest I got was an Angels tryout in 65.
Yeah the pre-1950s parts are definitely the best of the documentary.
ReplyDeleteSoon it will only be Wrigley Field and Fenway Park! My father has always been a huge baseball fan, and for a time he lived in the NY/NJ area so he is mad that they are destroying Yankee Stadium and building a new one. From what he's told me, it's all a big money-making scheme of course. After all, baseball is still a business.
Definitely go see the UCI team! They could use more support. I feel like most college students only want to support football teams, and sometimes basketball (and our basketball team isn't really a serious contender).
I'll try to make it next season since this season is over.
