Sweden: Sweden Democrats Want Imam Who Preached on Wife-Beating Expelled

The conservative Swedish party, the Sweden Democrats, want the government to deport an imam in Kristianstad who gave a sermon on when men are allowed to beat their wives (which presumably is never under Swedish law). They also want the mosque that the imam works for shut down.

Apparently, this may require a change in law, which the government is working on. The SD wants to enlarge the category of offenses under which naturalized people can have their citizenship stripped and be deported.

Domestic: Sweden Democrats' (SD) Jimmie Åkesson believes that the imam in Kristianstad who preached about beating women should have his citizenship taken away. He also wants to close the mosque itself. The SD is reportedly now pressing the government to tighten legislation in order to make it easier to revoke citizenship.

"Those types of mosques should be closed, and we should also take them down or use them for something else, Jimmie  Åkesson tells Riks.

The SD leader comments on the case of Imam Saleh Abouelenen, who has been forced to leave his position in the Al Rahma Mosque in Kristianstad after a well-known sermon about when men are allowed to beat their wives. Such imams should be deported, according to Åkesson.

"It is absolutely horrible that people with the status of an imam in the Muslim civil society can express themselves like that and still be in the country, which they naturally should not be. And that the mosque also has the possibility to continue carrying out its activity. That can not be allowed."

Saleh Abouelenen has been given Swedish nationality. But the SD wants to push through a change in the constitution that makes it possible to deport, for example, terrorists or persons who have a connection to terror or extremism. 

"Today, it is not possible, but we think it should be possible," says Jimmie Åkesson.

According to Expressen, after the incident in Kristianstad, the SD is pressing the government to go beyond the announced legislation and enable the revocation of Swedish citizenship for Islamists, also on grounds of immorality.

The government is preparing a model to be able to take back citizenship for serious criminality or if citizenship was obtained based on false information. But the SD wants to include more grounds.

"If you say, as the government ministers do, that this is terrible, then you must also do something," says SD leader Aspling to Expressen.

He continues:

"But what we should do now is discuss what we will do in the next term. The Sweden Democrats will make a statement  of their wish that more people will be caught up when it comes to the stripping of citizenship."

On this occasion, the pro-Hamas mobs sank to a new low, defacing a statue dedicated to Pope John Paul II, calling him a "sh---y fascist and drawing a hammer and sickle. ProPal insult to Pope Wojtyla: Condemnation of the unworthy act from Meloni, Salvini, and Tajani

This morning, on the day of the ProPal demonstration in the Square of the 500, Carabinieri determined that unknown persons defaced the statue of Po[pe John Paul II with the inscription, "sh---y fascist" and the symbol of the "sickle and hammer". The same officers began the procedure of removing the writings and restoring the statue to its original state.

"In Rome, they defaced the statue dedicated to Saint John Paul II, wriitng, "sh---y fascist" and drawing a sickle and hammer. They say they come onto the streets for peace, but then they insult the memory of a man who was a true defender and builder of peace. An unworthy act committed by people blinded by ideology, which demonstrates total ignorance of history and its protagonists," declared Premier Giorgia Meloni.

Outrage shared by the entire majority. "We are desperately trying to find brains for these poor imbeciles," wrote the vice premier and minister of Infrastructure and Transport (Matteo Salvini). "There are no words to condemn the desecration of the statue of Saint John Paul II at the Termini Station in Rome by extremists of the left on the occasion of the strike and the demonstration of these days. Enough with the hate! Enough with bad teachers," the Vice Premier and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani. writes on social media. 

The Anti-Defamation League and Turning Point USA: The Final Straw

Ever since I got involved with the issue of Campus anti-Semitism at the University of California at Irvine (UCI), where I was teaching part-time, I have not been impressed by the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) approach to the issue. I had always thought that the ADL was the nation’s premier entity fighting anti-Semitism. But it quickly became apparent to me that their concern was only for anti-Semitism from certain quarters.

About 15 years ago, then-ADL director Abe Foxman spoke to a Jewish group in Newport Beach, California. One member of the audience, who was involved in UCI campus issues with the Orange County Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism, asked Foxman for his thoughts on the problem of anti-Semitism at UCI, located just a few miles away in Irvine. Foxman’s reply was that there was no problem at UCI and that the administration of UCI and the students had it under control. What was going on at the time and subsequent events right up to the present day contradict that statement. I should add that while, for me, the statement was hearsay, it was the person who asked the question, a close personal friend, who related it to me.

Beginning in 2007, I began attending speaking events at UCI during the annual week of Israel-bashing in May, presented by the Muslim Student Union (MSU) and later Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). The speakers varied from pure clowns to straight-out scary people, some misfit Jews who hated Israel, radicals and extremists. I usually engaged with them in a professional manner during the question-and-answer sessions. On a couple of occasions after the event, I went one-on-one with the speaker, again in a professional manner befitting an adjunct lecturer at UCI, and with a dozen or so young Muslim students standing around looking mean. I often asked myself, why was I (a non-Jew) standing there, subjecting myself to abuse while Jewish leaders were standing silently 20 or so yards away with their thumbs up their you-know-what? In addition, I personally observed the disruptions of Jewish events and the intimidating behavior of the pro-Palestinian mobs. I also realized that the university, both UCI and the entire University of California system, were doing little more than engaging in empty platitudes. I complained often to the university and publicly criticized them for their inability to protect Jewish students and their events on campus.

But more to the point of this article, what was the local chapter of the ADL doing about the UCI problem, aside from Foxman’s seeming indifference? I vividly recall those events every May when the head of the local ADL chapter in Orange County or his aide would, indeed, be present at certain outdoor events, but would only observe. Nothing more. I can say the same for the Orange County Jewish Federation and Hillel. Their position was that Jewish students should not get involved lest the situation become worse. Never did I witness anyone from those three organizations stand up and challenge the speakers and contest the toxic venom they were spewing, speech that aside from attacking Israel, all too often crossed the line into attacking Jews as people. In addition, it was my opinion that the ADL preferred to assign the blame for anti-Semitism to people like Donald Trump, MAGA Republicans, and various and sundry white nationalists.

Since I left UCI in 2016, I have only attended a few events on campus, and it is possible that these organizations have stepped up, given how much worse things have gotten since October 7, 2023. As for post-October 7, I have perceived a greater awareness on the part of the ADL as to campus anti-Semitism. After all, after October 7, 2023 and the ugly events that have come afterward, how could ADL continue to ignore the problem? I had been willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say welcome to the fight. After all, we need all hands on deck, especially now.

But now comes the revelation that the ADL had listed Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA in their dossier of “extremists.” To me, this is the last straw. ADL has simply been infected with a left-wing agenda, and they even apply it to their stated mission of combating anti-Semitism. Charlie Kirk was no anti-Semite. He did not hate Jews, and he supported Israel. He knew who the bad guys are. When I first heard of Turning Point USA several years ago, my reaction was that this was just what universities needed. They still do, more than ever. Had I been paying more attention, I would have learned earlier about Kirk being included in this list. As I understand it, the ADL has now removed Kirk and TPUSA from the list and has reportedly shut down the dossier in its entirety.

That’s all well and good, but my perception is that they are reacting to the reportage. The fact that Kirk and TPUSA were listed as “extremists” by ADL only reinforces my opinion that they are still more focused on anti-Semitism coming from the right as opposed to anti-Semitism coming from Islamic quarters in the USA. Why else would they downplay the pro-Palestinian problem on our campuses for years, at least until October 7, 2023? This organization seriously needs to reexamine its priorities under Jonathan Greenblatt, who we all know is a man of the left. That is his right, but the issue of anti-Semitism in our country, especially on our campuses, should transcend leftist or rightist philosophies.

As one who admired Charlie Kirk and thought he was doing wonderful work, I am angered that the ADL branded him as an extremist. It just adds to the sickening character assassination against Kirk that continues since his assassination. The ADL has placed itself in some very bad company.

 

France: Gangland Shooting in Nice

Two people are dead and several wounded in a mass shooting in Nice, France. The attack occurred in the Moulin quarter of Nice, an area considered as a "sensitive area". That translates to a high-crime neighborhood inhabited mainly by folks from the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and other places.

The nature of the shooting, which involved automatic weapons, leads police to believe that it was a drug gang-related attack.

The Minister of Interior, Bruno Retailleau, has ordered police reinforcements to Nice to try and contain the violence.

UK: Terror Attack on Manchester Synagogue

In the British city of Manchester, a man drove his vehicle into the compound of a synagogue on Yom Kippur, got out and stabbed several people, two fatally, before being shot to death by police. The Daily Mail has an extensive report, including photos and video here (viewer warning).

Police are classifying this as an act of terrorism and believe they know the identity of the attacker, but are not yet releasing it. Incredibly, some news accounts are claiming the motive is unknown!

They should call me. The motive was to kill Jews.

When you attack a synagogue, this is no political statement protesting the Gaza war. This is an attack on Jewish people and their religion in a place of worship on the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. Ironically, the British government has just recently caved in and recognized a Palestinian state.

Spain: Priest Facing Prison for Criticizing Radical Islam

A Spanish priest is on trial for an alleged hate crime: The alleged crime? He is charged with criticizing radical Islam.

Father Custodio Ballester of Málaga went on trial on October 1 for statements he made denouncing radical Islam's efforts to "destroy Christian civilization and obliterate Western culture," a statement undeniably true. If convicted, the prosecution is asking for a 3-year prison term. In addition, Father Ballester has argued against engaging in interfaith dialogues with Muslims at a time when Christians in Muslim majority countries are being persecuted.

The case against Custodio Ballester

The Barcelona priest, Custodio Ballester, is facing a court in Malaga on October 1. The prosecutor of the Malaga court, Maria Teresa Verdugo, accuses him of an alleged hate crime. All because of an article entitled, "Radical Islam wants to destroy Christian civilization and obliterate the West".

The charge is clear: For writing and warning about the danger of radical Islamic jihadism, he is facing prison. Not in Saudi Arabia, nor in Pakistan, but in Spain, a Christian country that boasts of democracy and freedom of expression. 

The judicial ordeal began in 2020. After publishing another text entitled "The impossible dialogue with Islam," Custodio Ballester emphasized that, although not all Muslims committed attacks, radical Islamists admired those who attacked "infidels".

The statements of the priest

The priest himself explained it in a documentary about his case: "My intention was to set a criterion for people to judge. I know Muslims who have not been offended because they understood perfectly that I was not referring to them, rather to those who live Islam in a violent and radical manner.

In spite of his clarity, prosecutor Verdugo separated sentences, took them out of context, and twisted them in order to incriminate him 

"She grabbed what could incriminate me. Because of my priestly status, I am more culpable because when I speak, the people follow me. I consider myself a respectful person. I respect the Muslims and ask that they also respect me."

In another statement, the priest reaffirms his evangelical mission." I would like to be remembered as a priest who always wants to announce the truth and denounce what is wrong."

Religious liberty in danger

The case of Father Custodio Ballester is not an isolated case. It represents an ideological and judicial shift in which Spain is living under the flag of the call "to fight against hate". Those who defend the Christian faith and denounce the dangers of radical Islam are criminalized. It is not hate against Islam. It is hate against Catholicism.

What is serious is that this process is taking place in a country with a Catholic tradition, while the ideological violence of Islamism in Europe is tolerated and even whitewashed. The same people who downplay the Islamist attacks are now accusing a priest for saying the truth.

As La Razon recalled, the prosecutor is asking for prison time because Custodio Ballester denounced something obvious: That radical Islam seeks to obliterate our Christian and Western civilization.

We are all Father Custodio

The trial, which will commence on October 1, will be a test for freedom of expression and religious freedom in Spain. The Barcelona priest is not alone: Associations, faithful, and free citizens have initiated campaigns in his defense. They present him as he really is: a victim of Christian phobia and the judicial persecution against those who defend the truth.

Because it is not just a priest who is being judged. All those who raise their voices against radical Islam are being judged.  The freedom to be able to state without fear that radical Islam attacks our faith, our culture, and our values is being judged.

The case of Custodio Ballester cannot remain in silence. His judicial trial is a direct attack on religious freedom, freedom of expression, and the right of Christians to defend their faith.

In a moment when Europe is threatened by radical Islamism, persecuting a priest for saying the truth is an insult to one's intelligence and an affront to justice.

More than ever, we must repeat loud and clear: We are all Father Custodio.

 

Swarthmore College Permanently Boots SJP

 

Swarthmore College

Swarthmore College, a private liberal arts college in Pennsylvania has become one of the first institutions of higher learning to permanently ban Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Campus Reform has the report here.

And the reasons are not hard to imagine: Repeated violations of campus regulations, intimidation, bullying, vandalism, and destruction of property. This is what SJP does. It is the reason SJP should be banned permanently from all universities. I commend Swarthmore for taking this action.

Germany: Three Suspected Hamas Terrorists Arrested in Berlin

Allegedly planning attacks against Jews

In Berlin, three Middle Eastern men, two apparently with German citizenship, have been arrested by police during a weapons exchange. The men are charged with being members of Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization, and preparing to attack Jewish/Israeli institutions or individuals. 

This should serve as a reminder that Hamas is not just Israel's enemy, but our enemy as well. Aside from Israelis, Hamas has also murdered American and European citizens, including on October 7, 2023. In addition, a German female was murdered by Hamas on October 7, and her dead body was carried into Gaza, where it was further desecrated by cheering civilians. Germans should be outraged at the presence of these monsters on their own soil.

They are a German from Lebanon, a Lebanese with undetermined citizenship, and a German from Syria. Since the summer of 2025, they were allegedly tasked by Hamas to procure weapons and ammunition. These were allegedly for attacks against Jewish and Israeli institutions. It is unclear whether the three men intended to carry out the attacks themselves. 

As the federal prosecutor announced on Wednesday, an application will be filed tomorrow for a custodial order against the three suspects. The charges against Abed Al G., Wael F.M., and Ahmad I. are membership in a foreign terrorist organization and preparation of a serious act of violence endangering the state.

As reported by Spiegel, police anti-terror investigators observed the three men during a weapons exchange on Wednesday. During the search, the police found functional weapons, including an AK-47 assault rifle and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Several pistols were also found. The report further states that searches were conducted in Leipzig and Oberhausen (North Rhine-Westphalia).

Hamas responsible for massacre in Israel

The declared goal of Hamas is the destruction of the state of Israel and the establishment of an Islamist religious state in the Middle East. The organization is responsible for the terror attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, in which 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 people were taken hostage. The unprecedented attack triggered the war in Gaza. 

It is not the first arrest of alleged Hamas members by the Federal Prosecutor's Office. In December 2023, for example, they brought about the arrests of three men in Berlin and one in Rotterdam, Netherlands. According to earlier reports, they were acting as foreign operators of the terror organization, and "occupied important positions with direct connection to the leadership of the military wing". Among other things, they were allegedly searching for weapon storage places for the organization. The trial in the Berlin Criminal Court is still ongoing.

The horrific saga of grooming gangs in the UK continues. Seven men, apparently all Pakistanis, have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment for subjecting young British girls to sexual slavery. The Times (UK) has all the details here. This is just one of many such gangs, predominantly Pakistani, that have been operating for years in the UK, in some cases, with British authorities turning a blind eye because they didn't want to be accused of "racism". I don't know which is more depraved. At least justice is now being meted out.

William A Jacobson is a law professor at Cornell University and the editor of Legal Insurrection, a blog that largely deals with anti-Semitism and leftist radicalization on campus. He is speaking out on a controversy on the Cornell campus centering around English professor Eric Cheyfitz, an anti-Israeli activist, who also happens to be of Jewish background. Currently, Cheyfitz is under investigation by the university over an allegation that he refused to allow an Israeli student to enroll in a course he will be teaching regarding the Gaza conflict, a course that Jacobson and others feel is biased to the Palestinian narrative and will only fuel more anti-Jewish feeling at Cornell. Cheyfitz is also facing possible disciplinary action by Cornell. As noted by Jacobson, Cheyfitz is not under scrutiny for his political views on Israel, nor for the course he has created, but rather because he allegedly violated the civil rights of a student based on nationality.

 Ironically, almost 20 years ago, when DOE/OCR was investigating complaints of anti-Semitic discrimination at the University of California at Irvine (where I was teaching at the time), the case was eventually unsuccessful, partially because among the Jewish students who were complainants, none were Israeli. At the time, religion was not included in the 1964 Civil Rights Act, but national origin was-and still is. Thus, if a professor were to deny a student from enrolling in a course due to that student's nationality, that would constitute a violation of the student's rights- in plain, simple English.

At any rate, if this is accurate, it is clearly wrong and must be treated seriously by the university. This has gone on too long, and it's time to use the law if the universities will not do what's right.

Germany: Two Turkish Families Fight it out in Gelsenkirchen: One Dead

In the Ruhr area of Germany, two Turkish families took to the streets of Gelsenkirchen on Sunday night and engaged in a mass brawl involving some 30 people using knives, stun guns, and baseball bats. One man died of a stab wound, and several others are in serious condition. Six people are in custody. The cause of the clash is unknown, but it is reported that there was an earlier fight on Friday between the two groups.

According to the latest information, on Sunday evening, around 8 pm, knives, stun guns, and baseball bats were used, as reported by the police and the State Prosecutor's office in Essen.

According to police, three male suspects, ages 16, 29, and 52, as well as three female suspects, ages 25, 28, and 50, were arrested.

According to some reports, police were deployed in large numbers and extensively closed off the crime scene on Pommernstrasse (street) in the Bismarck quarter to secure evidence and interview witnesses. A police helicopter was also at the scene.

According to Bild, a connection to clan criminality is unconfirmed. According to the newspaper's information, it was reportedly a fight between two large Turkish families who live in close proximity to each other. Earlier on Friday, there was a clash. It is possible that a (meeting to resolve the dispute) broke out into violence.

As to the background of the clash, there is no definitive information as yet. For this reason, police have set up a homicide squad and ask witnesses to call 0209/3657112 or 0209/3658240.
