I have written several pieces on the anti-Semitism rampant in Malmo, Sweden (and other parts of Europe). Immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa, plus the hostility of the city's mayor, Ilmar Reepalu are driving Jews out of the city in droves. Paulina Neuding has written an article on the plight of Malmo's Jews in the Journal of the Turkish Weekly (with an introduction by Chanah Shapira in Israel, Sweden and the Jews).

As Neuding points out, it is all too convenient for Europeans to paint the situation on mutual combat between Jews and Muslims. That seems to be the spin that Reepalu would like to put on it. That is not the case, however. Jews are not going out on the streets and attacking Muslims or their places of worship. Where is there a comparable case where Muslim children have been mowed down in a schoolyard (as in Toulouse) by a Jewish gunman.Where is there a comparable case where a young Muslim man was kidnapped and tortured over days (as in Paris) then murdered by a gang of Jews?

How much easier would it have been for the Europeans if Jews were being persecuted by white Europeans (which, in some cases is the case)? Then they could call a spade a spade. But when the majority of the attacks are committed by another minority, then it becomes more complicated.

To the Europeans anyway.

It's all political correctness, and it has infected Europe just as much as it has infected North America. What it means is that not even the truth can be told.

It has been announced today that the US has posted a 10 million dollar reward for the capture of Lashkar e Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed of Pakistan, who has been identified as the organizer of the 2008 Mumbai massacre.

It doesn't take a lot of checking to find a link between the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar e Taiba and the Council of Islamic American Relations (CAIR), that well-known organization that labels itself as a moderate Muslim civil rights organization, even though they were named as unindicted co-conspirators in the 2007 Holy Land Foundation trial in the Northern District of Texas.

Which brings us to one Randall Royer, who is serving a 20-year sentence for terror-related charges.

But it gets better. Saeed apparently has a couple of brothers and a brother-in-law who took up residence in Massachusetts and New England. (Don't they all?) Today's LA Times has a curious story by Larry Gordon that reports allegations that the University of California has a left-wing bent that affects the education students are getting.

Courtesy of Gates of Vienna, we have a Toronto news report on books found in a Toronto bookstore run by the Islamic Circle of North America. They were written by the Pakistani Islamic supremist, Sayyid Abu Ala Maududi, of whom I have written previously. Maududi founded the Pakistani political organization known as Jimaat e Islami, which believed in a world-wide Islamic caliphate and advocated the overthrow of the West. It was the Islamist Circle of North America that hosted a so-called charity dinner in Yorba Linda, California in February 2010 that drew a well-publicized  protest. Who were the speakers? Amir Andel Malik Ali and Siraj Wahhaj, two radical figures with a long history of virulent, radical and hateful speech.

Kudos to Canada's Sun News for bringing to light an issue most Western news outlets wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.

Debra Saunders, who has been a columnist for many years for the San Francisco Chronicle, has written an important piece that is appearing on Townhall, in which she explains the domination of leftist professors within the University of California system.

Having been an adjunct teacher at the University of California at Irvine since 1998, I have followed this
phenomena for quite some time-especially as it pertains to the Israel-Palestine conflict, which is the major point of contention on UC campuses-as well as other campuses across North America (including Canada).

As far as the disparity of conservative professors, I think a large part of the problem is that those with a conservative mindset are not usually attracted to an academic career. (I wasn't until I retired from DEA.) They usually go out in the real world to make a living and acquire real life experiences. The liberals who dominate academia usually are those who go from BA/BS to Masters to Doctorate and right into teaching. Do I have the empirical evidence for that at my fingertips? No, but I would bet my mortgage that the above statement would be borne out by any study.

The university is a friendly environment for the left-indeed the far-left. The problem is that it carries over into the classroom, where leftist professors see their job as indoctrinating their students rather than providing them with a balanced or neutral education as to world issues. It used to be bashing conservatism and Republican politicians in order to further the "progressive cause". Now it is also  focused on bashing Israel and promoting the Palestinian cause.

But one might ask; why such emphasis on an issue half a world away? It is largely because American universities have accepted millions of dollars from Middle East interests including Saudi Arabia to establish Middle East departments staffed with anti-Israel zealots who use their classrooms as soapboxes to deligitimize Israel as a nation that doesn't even have the right to exist as a Jewish state free from attack from a hostile Arab/Muslim collection of dysfunctional dictatorships that themselves have no regard for human rights. Plus, it also fits nicely into the overall anti-America, anti-Western civilization, post colonial philosophy that is prevalent in virtually all universities. If you criticize it, you are accused of being racist or "Islamophobic."

So what is the result within the UC system, where the problem is acute? Today, we see a collection of campuses with humanities and social sciences dominated by leftist ideologues posing as professional educators. Add to that a collection of feckless chancellors hiding under their desks and supervised from above by an equally feckless president (Mark Yudof), who has allowed his campuses to become places where Jewish students who support Israel and assert their Jewish identity are subjected to intimidation and harassment.

Saunders' article is welcome, but it only scratches the surface of the problem. Here is the scary point: Every single one of our future educators, university administrators, and political leaders are today walking through the hallways of these campuses.

MSNBC Doctors Tape to Show George Zimmerman is Racist

We have been complaining about MSNBC's rush to convict George Zimmerman ever since the news broke about the shooting of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. Al Sharpton, Lawrence O'Donnell, Martin Bashir and Ed Schultz have all used their shows to "prove" to their listeners that Zimmerman tracked Martin down and executed him because he was black. That is bad enough. To make things worse, they have even doctored the 9-11 conversation between Zimmerman and the dispatcher to make it appear that Zimmerman was honing in on Martin's race. That is inexcusable. Zimmerman clearly did not volunteer the information that Martin looked black as NBC made it appear. He was answering the dispatcher's question who was trying to get a physical description. What kind of journalism is this?

Combine this with the lynch mob mentality that is rampant out there, the New Black Panther Party bounty offer (which MSNBC ignores), the inflammatory statements made by certain people in Congress like the comical Frederica Wilson (D-FL), NAACP marches demanding Zimmerman's arrest, and the obvious fact that Sharpton is combining his role as MSNBC anchor with that of on-the-scene activist and protest leader, and you have a volatile cocktail that may lead to vigilante justice and murder.

It is time for NBC to do some real soul searching here and take corrective action if they hope to continue as one of our major news giants. Being editorially liberal is one thing. NBC is now in the business of making and twisting the news. I've been watching the disintegration of American journalism my entire adult life. This is the absolute worst I have ever seen.

Is this not symptomatic of the moral rot that has infected the West? This is even worse than the apologia offered by Swiss Islamic scholar Tarek Ramadan, in which he attributed the horror to Merah being isolated from French society (by his own choice). This is tantamount to the US Army calling the Ft Hood massacre a case of "work-place violence".
