Olive Tree Initiative Endorsed by CAIR
The Orange County Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism has posted an article by the liberal LA Times praising UC-Irvine's Olive Tree Initiative. And guess who is also praising the OTI. None other than CAIR Southern California chief Hussam Ayloush.
http://octaskforce.wordpress.com/2011/04/24/uc-irvine-oti-student-i-think-it-would-be-impossible-to-claim-we-can-understand-the-area-without-considering-hamas-cair-weighs-in-on-the-oti/
"You’re dealing with people that are in conflict with each other,” said Ayloush, whose organization is based in Anaheim. “It’s not about agreeing with them,” he said. “It’s about hearing the unique narratives of each of the sides there and learning how to maneuver around it to get the parties closer together to promote peace.”
"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah."
Yes, Mr Ayloush, the peace of the International Solidarity Movement.
It is hardly surprising that CAIR would love the OTI since recent revelations tend to show that there is a definite slant to the pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel narrative.
In addition, Jerry Gordon has added this article in Red County:
http://www.redcounty.com/content/cair-backs-olive-tree-initiative-university-california-irvine
There is, however, one piece of good news. The Jewish Federation of Sarasota/Manatee has taken the Fogel Pledge, named in honor of the Fogel family recently murdered by extremists in the West Bank. That means they will not contribute funds or support to any entity working against the state of Israel.
If only the Orange County Jewish Federation would follow suit.
More on the Wave of Intimidation in South Dakota

Richard Swier of Red County has also written a piece on the intimidation being directed toward Sioux Falls activist Lisa Marie Johnson by local Islamic thugs. The piece includes pictures of the rocks and damage directed at Johnson's home.
http://www.redcounty.com/content/christian-woman-stoned-south-dakota
It would be nice for former Senator James Abourezk to issue a statement condemning these acts since he has been in the forefront of demonizing Johnson and her allies in South Dakota.
Another Hilarious George Galloway Moment
George Galloway (in red)
Hat tip to Vlad Tepes
British buffoon George Galloway apparently has his own comedy show on Iran's English-language Press TV in Britain. Watch the link below as George gets turned upside down while attempting to give the third degree to the producer of Undercover Mosque, a documentary that exposed radical hate speech going on in Britain's mosques.
http://vladtepesblog.com/?p=32958
George might have done better had he donned his red leotards for the interview.
Of course, we know that Galloway doesn't like to hear about hateful comments coming from the mouths of his radical Muslim friends. This reminds me of when he cast his shadow over UC-Irvine back in May of 2009 and I recounted to him a series of anti-Semitic chants heard on US streets during anti-Israel protests.
http://garyfouse.blogspot.com/2009/05/george-galloway-meets-liar-himself.html
Most tellingly, Galloway, when he is being completely defeated by his opponent on his own show, turns bully and starts talking about having the man thrown off the set.

Tim Geithner: Our "Nascent Recovery" Needs More Debt
"Put it on the tab."
Or something like that according to Treasury Wunderkind, Tim "Turbo Tax" Geithner, as he warned Congress this week that if we don't raise the debt limit, it will endanger our "nascent recovery".
So does that mean we need to borrow more in order to recover?
Now, mind you, I ain't no Treasury Secretary (although I did use Turbo Tax a couple of years), but it seems to me that getting your economic house in order doesn't entail borrowing more money.

A German Woman in Frankfurt Stands Up
Hat Tip to Atlas Shrugs
And a tip of the hat to a German lady in Frankfurt who had the cojones to stand up to a radical Islamic speaker. And before you tell me she is the racist, note that she is calling out a speaker for speaking, "like Hitler".
German authorities apparently agreed. They ordered the deportation of the speaker, radical imam Abu Ameena Bilal Philips, a man who calls for the death penalty for homosexuals.

Give that a lady a Henninger.

Sorry, Senator McCain. It's Time to Come Home
Senator John McCain visited Benghazi this week and argued for increased US military assistance to the rebels. I respectfully disagree.
The below Frontpage Magazine posting has gruesome video and photos of how the rebels are treating black Africans suspected of being Ghaddafi mercenaries. The videos are graphic, disturbing, and can be accessed through the below link.
http://frontpagemag.com/2011/04/22/libyan-rebels-terrorize-black-africans/
As I have said previously, if our aim is not to drop a rocket on Ghaddafi's head, we have no business being involved in Libya. Since we are apparently unwilling to do that, it is time to bring our troops home. If our erstwhile allies in NATO want to continue this misadventure, let them. We don't even know who these rebels are. On second thought, images like we see now against black Africans-whether they are Ghaddafi mercenaries or innocent foreign workers- tell me this is not the start of any democracy in Libya.
Let's get the Hell out.
JoAnn Kloppenburg's Recount in Wisconsin
Check out this recent video of JoAnn Kloppenburg's announcement that she is seeking a recount in that Wisconsin Supreme Court election. The one thing that we all now know about Kloppenburg is that the name fits to a tee.
The Olive Tree Initiative-The Lawyers Are Licking Their Chops
My friend Debra Glazer has written a very cogent piece for Pajamas Media on the Olive Tree Initiative at UC-Irvine (now spreading to other UC campuses). This misguided venture is proving to be much more than a slanted project in favor of the Palestinian narrative. It is a disaster and a tragedy waiting to happen. And when it does, the lawyers will be standing by licking their chops.
http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/olive-tree-initiative/
You see, everybody involved in the OTI has been warned and put on notice. This goes much farther than whether the program is balanced between the Israeli and Palestinian narrative. The involvement of figures like International Solidarity Movement co-founder, George S. Rishmawi and the recent revelation that in 2009, OTI participants met with a top Hamas operative in the West Bank have pretty much settled that argument.
The recent slaughter of the Fogel family in the West Bank right down to a three-month-old infant, the kidnap and murder in Gaza of an ISM activist from Italy are just two examples of the violence that these college kids can be exposed to. And just in the past 24 hours, we have seen a fatal shooting at Joseph's Tomb by a Palestinian Authority Policeman.
Also keep in mind that the Palestinian Authority allows all kinds of anti-Jewish imagery n their media that go far beyond the Israeli question. The PA leadership promises there will be no Jews in their territory. This is a region where Jews are hated with a passion. In my view, it is just a matter of time before one of these kids gets harmed or killed.
If and when that happens, those responsible for the program, both in the university and the organizations that have funded and supported this program, will have no legal defenses against the resultant lawsuits. They have ignored documented warnings about this program. For them to go forward with more trips is beyond irresponsible. I would urge those in positions of responsibility to have a long talk with their legal counsel about the obvious risks associated with these trips.
The Middle East-Where Have All the Christians Gone?
Giulio Meotti, an Italian writer, has written a thought-provoking piece in Il Foglio about the declining numbers of Christians in the Middle East. I have cross-posted it from Monkey in the Middle.
http://findalismonkeyinthemiddle.blogspot.com/2011/04/mideast-devoid-of-christians.html
Of course, as all this is happening, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, a 57-nation group within the UN, is pushing for that international law against "Defamation of Religions" (their own). Here in the US, CAIR is still pushing the notion that US Muslims are a persecuted minority-which they are not.
Of course, persecution of any religious group anywhere is utterly wrong. All religions should be protected from true persecution, including Muslims. However, when you get right down to brass tacks, there is only one religion in the world that is perpetrating persecution of other minority religions.
The proof is in the numbers.

A German Islamic Class
Hat tip to Europe News (DK)
If you ever wanted to know what Muslim children are being taught in German schools, here it is (with English sub-titles).
I suppose the good news is that these kids look completely bored. Hopefully, they are thinking to themselves...
"What is this guy, the son of Julius Streicher?"
What is so strange is that in a nation that cracks down on Holocaust-denial, how can the Germans let this kind of rhetoric in their schools pass?
For obvious reasons, Germany must be the moral leader of Europe when it comes to hate speech and teaching children to hate others. That they let this pass is testiment to the moral cowardice that exists in Europe when it comes to the hatred preached by Islamic clerics and scholars.

Meanwhile in Pakistan..Christian Persecution Continues
In Pakistan, things seem to be going from bad to worse for that country's tiny Christian minority. Now they are being blamed for US drone strikes.

(Fox News)
Where are the charges of hate and bigotry about this situation? Is it not fascinating as we see case after case of persecution of Christians in Pakistan, Iraq, Egypt, and other countries, persecution of Baha'i in Iran, Jews in Yemen, Christians and animists in Sudan, and Jews in Europe being assaulted and insulted on the streets by Muslim immigrants, here at home all we read from our own media are overblown charges of Islamophobia directed at those with the temerity to talk about the outrages overseas, to call out the true radicals in the US, and to critically discuss what sharia law in the West would mean to our freedoms.
In spite of the rhetoric, by and large, the American people have treated innocent, peaceful Muslims here admirably-as they should. Unfortunately, Muslim majorities in countries like the above have a dismal record in the way they treat their own religious minorities.
Sioux Falls-An Unlikely Battleground
Sioux Falls, South Dakota would seem an unlikely place for confrontations between Muslims and non-Muslims. Yet this small city of some 120,000 souls in the nation's heartland has been the scene of some contentious divisions between Muslims and non-Muslims.
Sioux Falls is one of those communities chosen by our government to resettle Somali and Sudanese refugees. Surprisingly as it may seem, the city has four mosques-including a mega-mosque currently under construction, a project opposed by many in the town who question why the need for yet another. Recently, Frank Gaffney of Family Security Matters came to town to screen the movie, "Iranium", which sparked protests by the local Muslims, led by former US Senator from South Dakota, James Abourezk, himself an Arab-American. The below article is by Jerry Gordon in Red County.

There have also been several anti-Israel demonstrations organized by the Islamic Center of Sioux Falls. In addition, there has been a drive led by State Senator Dan Lederman (R) and citizen activists to pass a state law designed to ensure that only laws in conformance with the US Constitution can be added to state law-an effort to preclude any future attempt to incorporate sharia law into the state code.
http://www.dakotavoice.com/2011/02/lawmakers-unit-behind-anti-shariah-law-bills
In the middle of all this is a former Catholic nun named Lisa Marie Johnson of Mary's Project, who has been a leader in the above issues.
http://www.marysproject.com/about-marys-project/index.php
Not surpringly, Lisa Marie is paying a very personal price. She has been confronted on the phone several times by angry Muslims, insulted and had her car tires slashed. Just this week, she has had rocks thrown through the windows of her Sioux Falls home. Yes, opposing sharia has its price. Here is an account of her experiences just in the past year.
In September of 2010, at about 6 pm on a Wednesday evening, a male intruder made his way into her apartment building and was lurking on all fours by the door of Lisa Marie's neighbor. A 9-11 call by a neighbor sent him fleeing before the police could arrive. He was described as a dark-skinned male 20-30s, speaking with a foreign accent and driving an older model, white, 4 door sedan.
Also, in the fall of 2010, Lisa Marie was walking around her neighborhood when a white car driven by an African-appearing man with a white skull cap slowly followed her and tried to call her to get into his car. He continued to slowly follow her until turning off and speeding off when he saw a police car approaching. Lisa Marie described him as African (not African-American), Somali or Sudanese.
In January 2011, during the state legislative session arguing the state law issue, the tires of Lisa Marie's car were slashed as it was parked in her driveway.
On March 29, 2011 – The day of Iranium screening (followed by a panel discussion with Tom Trento, State Senator Dan Lederman and Captain Joel Arends), at about 4:30 pm, a car was sitting in her alleyway right in front of her house entrance watching her door. There were 3 men in a car with tinted windows. A neighbor pulled up and stayed in her car watching. They saw her, did not move, and stayed where they were for 3 minutes before slowly moving down the alleyway. Lisa Marie was at the hotel screening room at that point getting ready for the evening event after a day of press conferences.
On April 21st and April 22nd. On Thursday early in the morning, a rock was thrown through the window of Lisa Marie's house. It completely shattered the window. Lisa Marie was up on the second floor, and the rock came threw a second floor window. On Friday, another rock came through the window of the front door of her house, again shattering the window. These were big rocks that fit in one's whole hand, It was estimated that the perpetrator would have had to be only about 3 feet away from the window, to aim and break it like he did. Lisa Marie lives in an old historical home and the windows are old and quite thick.
This is the type of intimidation that Lisa Marie has had to put up with because of her opposition to militant Islam-even in a place like Sioux Falls, South Dakota. My admiration goes out to her for having the courage to not stand down in the face of thuggery.
